Why did Gregor Mendel conclude that the genes for flower and seed color in pea plants independently assorted even though both tr

aits are on the same chromosome?
Crossing over occurred frequently.

The genes are not considered linked.

Which of the following statement is true?
AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

The active site of an enzyme is the region of an enzyme where substrate molecules bind and undergo a chemical reaction.

Explanation:

This is because enzymes catalyses reaction by first lowering it activation energy and then bind to the reactants and convert the substrate to products. This take place in the active site. This active site is that area or region where the activation energy is lowered and the substrate molecules is bind to produce products.

What is the fate of the phosphate group that is removed when ATP is converted to ADP? It is acquired by a reactant in an endergo
Alexeev081 [22]

A reactant is a substance that is present (and is modified) in a chemical reaction. Moreover, endergonic reactions are chemical reactions that consume energy.

  • The fate of the phosphate group that is removed when ATP is converted to ADP is that it is acquired by a reactant in an endergonic reaction.

  • ATP synthesis is an endergonic reaction in which ADP and phosphate (Pi) are reactants.

  • ATP is a product that is at a higher energy level than ADP and phosphate (i.e., the reactants), thereby this reaction consumes energy.

The diagram shows a normal red blood cell and a shrunken red blood cell, both of which are in salt water.
bixtya [17]

Answer: Water moved from inside the red blood cell into the salt water.

This is because of the osmotic difference between the salt solution and the red blood cell. This means that there is difference in the solute (salt) concentration inside the red blood cell and the salt solution.

Explanation: The salt concentration in the solution is higher than the salt concentration inside the red blood cell, that is, the red blood cell has more water concentration that the salt solution, therefore there will be movement of water from the inside of the red blood cell into the salt solution thereby causing the red blood cell to reduce in size. The movement of water from the red blood cell into the salt solution is to create a balance between the water concentration in the two environments, hence the movement of water from an area of high water concentration to an area of low solvent concentration across the selectively permeable membrane of the red blood cell.

What is natural selection and who came up with this theory??
kakasveta [241]
Natural selection is an idea that Charles Darwin came up with.

It attempts to describe how animals and plants evolved by using nature as the determiner of who survives. For example, if there is a fast cheetah population and a slow cheetah population in Africa, the slow cheetah population will eventually die out due to them not being able to catch prey to survive. The fast cheetah had the desirable traits necessary for survival in this location. Only the strong survive is helpful to remember when dealing with natural selection.
