Question:

Mateo drew the field lines around the ends of two bar magnets but forgot to label the direction of the lines with arrows. In which direction should an arrow at position 1 point?

left

right

up

down

Answer:

The correct answer is

Left

Explanation:

Magnetic circuits describe the path of a magnetic flux. In the same way electricity follows a complete closed circuit, the path of a magnetic flux is also a complete and closed circuit which leaves from the N pole, migrates through the air  and reenters the magnet through the S pole through which it passes back into the magnet to come to the N pole again.

As such the magnetic field lines emanate from the N pole which is on he right to the S pole which is on the left. Hence the arrow should point in the left direction.

Total internal reflection can most accurately be described as...
Phoenix [80]

Answer:

a. reflection of all the light at a surface.

Explanation:

When light rays passing from the denser medium to the rarer medium and the angle of incidence is greater  than the critical angle, the refraction of light does not take place and the incident ray is totally reflected back  into the denser medium. This phenomenon is called total internal reflection.

There are two conditions that need to be fulfilled in order for the total internal reflection to take place:

1. The ray of light should be incident from denser to rarer medium.

2. The angle of incidence should be greater than the critical angle.

Therefore, the correct option will be:

<u>a. reflection of all the light at a surface.</u>

In your research lab, a very thin, flat piece of glass with refractive index 1.20 and uniform thickness covers the opening of a
liraira [26]

Answer:

(a). The thickness of the glass is 868 nm.

(b). The wavelength is 3472 nm.

Explanation:

Given that,

Refractive index = 1.20

Wavelength = 496 nm

Next wavelength = 386 nm

We need to calculate the thickness of the glass

Using formula for constructive interference

2nt=(m+\dfrac{1}{2})\lambda

Put the value into the formula

In first case,

2nt=(m+\dfrac{1}{2})496.....(I)

In second case,

2nt=(m+1+\dfrac{1}{2})386

2nt=(m+\dfrac{3}{2})386.....(II)

From equation (I) and (II)

(m+\dfrac{1}{2})496=(m+\dfrac{3}{2})386

110m=336

m=3.0

Put the value of m in equation (I)

2nt=(2+\dfrac{1}{2})496

t=\dfrac{(3+\dfrac{1}{2})496}{2\times1}

t=868\ nm

The thickness of the glass is 868 nm.

(b). We need to calculate the wavelength

Using formula of constructive interference

2nt=(m+\dfrac{1}{2})\lambda

\lambda=\dfrac{2nt}{(m+\dfrac{1}{2})}

Put the value into the formula

\lambda=\dfrac{2\times1\times868}{\dfrac{1}{2}}

\lambda=3472\ nm

Hence, (a). The thickness of the glass is 868 nm.

(b). The wavelength is 3472 nm.

Jupiter is made of gas(like Saturn, Uranus and Neptune). What would happen to the strength of gravity if you
garik1379 [7]

Answer:

a) The strength of gravity decreases if one moved away from Jupiter

b) The strength of gravity increases if one fell into Jupiter

Explanation:

The gravitational attraction is given by Newton law of gravitation as follows;

Force \ (strength) \ of \ gravity = \dfrac{G \times M \times m}{R^2}

Where;

G = The universal gravitational constant = 6.67408 × 10⁻¹¹ m³/(kg·s²)

M = The mass of Jupiter

m = The mass of the nearby body

R = The distance between the centers of Jupiter and the body

From the equation, we have that the gravitational strength varies inversely with the square of the separation distance between two bodies

Therefore, as one moves away, R increases, and the strength of gravity reduces

Similarly as the body falls into Jupiter, R, reduces the gravitational strength increases.

Let σa, σb, σc, and σd be the respective surface charge densities on surfaces A, B, C, and D. Take all the charge densities to b
aniked [119]

Answer:

a) σa−σb−σc−σd=0

Explanation:

The parallel plate capacitor is the one in which two metal plates are connected in parallel with some distancing among them. The electric field from both plates is denoted by E = σ / 2ϵ0. The σ is the charge density. The Electric field in plate I will vanish when the surface charge of σa is positive and rest of the charges are negative. The correct option is a.
