Electronic medical records has many advantages. Some of them are:

Health information electronically can help you provide higher quality and safer care for patients while creating tangible enhancements for your organization.

Providing accurate, up-to-date, and complete information about patients at the point of care at any place and any time.

Also, the cost is reduced through decreased paperwork.

But it has a very big disadvantage that in case the data base fails, you would have no record and hence less safe for the patient.
