The aorta receives the full force of blood exiting the heart during ventricular systole. Which of the following statements best

describes the adaptive anatomy of the aorta? A) The aorta's tunica media is thick with dense regular connective tissue to withstand the blood's pressure. B) Smooth muscle is relatively thin in the aorta to increase lumen size and systemic blood flow. C) Elastic fibers are extensive in the tunica media of the aorta and dampen the pulse pressure generated by the heart. D) The tunica external of the aorta is nearly absent compared to other vessels.

Answer:

A & C

Explanation:

Aorta is the biggest artery and channels pumped blood from the left ventricle of the heart to tissues. It, therefore, needs to bear the greatest burden of blood pressure because the left ventricle is thicker than the right ventricle and pumps blood with high pressure so that it reached the tissues with the right hydrostatic pressure to allow blood plasma pass through the capillaries walls into tissue fluid.

The walls of the aorta need to be thick enough and elastic to bear the pressure. This is why the tunica media is thickest it aorta because these elastic fibers provide strength and elasticity to prevent rupturing and smooth muscle cells contract and relax in regulation of this pressure to maintain the right pulse.

The diagrams are showing a cell undergoing a mitotic division at different points of Anaphase.use the ABC labels on the drawings
katrin [286]

The rigth answer is C (B ==> A ==> C)

The 3 images represent the key stages of mitosis.

Image B represents the beginning of the anaphase, where the chromosomes are aligned in the equatorial plate.

The image A represents the anaphase where the chromosomes are separated on both sides of the cell.

The image C represents the telophase or one can observe in the middle the formation of the division furrow to allow the cell to cut itself in two.

In what way is the treaty on plant genetic resources limited ?
SCORPION-xisa [38]

Answer:

The correct answer is option D. "It neglects the loss of habitat".

Explanation:

The main objective of the international treaty on plant genetic resources for food and agriculture is to achieve the conservation and sustainable use of all plant genetic resources and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits obtained from their use. This treaty is managed by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and is applied in many countries of the world. One of the limitations of this treaty is that it neglects the loss of habitat, which can also affect the availability of plant genetic resources. The international treaty on plant genetic resources is limited to work on loss of biodiversity and management of genetic resources such as seeds.

Duplication of a segment of a chromosome would result in _______. see section 16.4 (page 344) .
Svetlanka [38]
Duplications are repeated segments of genetic materials that result from unequal crossing over during meiosis or through a replication error prior to meiosis. They usually occur when homologous pairs do not line up correctly or in chromosomes with a lot of repeat sequences. Duplication of a segment of a chromosome would result in Genetic variability during evolution due to gene duplication.

Explain why an organism cannot choose to have a mutation that would enable it to live more successfully in its environment.
vaieri [72.5K]

Answer:

Explanation:

An organism can't chose to have a mutation because it depends on the way they are born. If they are missing some type of mineral, (Protein, Vitamin, etc.) they will have a mutation because they're missing that. Well, something similar to a mutation is natural selection and genes. For example, there are some short and tall giraffes. The tall ones can reach the tree and the short ones can't so they die and the tall ones can reproduce and their offspring will inherit that trait
