Add up the digits that make 81 as follows: 8 + 1 = 9

We know that if the sum of the numbers that make up 81 is divisible by 3, then 81 is divisible by 3.

<span>Since the sum of the digits in 81 is divisible by 3, 81 is also divisible by 3. Thus, the answer to the question "Is 81 divisible by 3?" is as follows: </span>

<span>Yes</span>

What is the equation of the quadratic function represented by this table?
MA_775_DIABLO [31]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

I used logic and took the easy way around this as opposed to the long, drawn-out algebraic way.  I noticed right off that at x = -3 and x = -1 the y values were the same.  In the middle of those two x-values is -2, which is the vertex of the parabola with coordinates (-2, 4).  That's the h and k in the formula I'm going to use.  Then I picked a point from the table to use as my x and y in the formula I'm going to use.  I chose (0, 3) because it's easy.  The formula for a quadratic is

y=a(x-h)^2+k

and I have everything I need to solve for a.  Filling in my h, k, x, and y:

3=a(0-(-2))^2+4  and

3=a(2)^2+4  and

-1 = 4a so

a=-\frac{1}{4}

In work/vertex form the equation for the quadratic is

y=-\frac{1}{4}(x+2)^2+4

In standard form it's:

y=-\frac{1}{4}x^2-x+3

Joy read 1/3 of the book in the morning and she reads some more at night by the end of the day she still had 2/5 of the book to
larisa [96]

Answer:

4/15

Step-by-step explanation:

Lets find a common denominator in order to find the total amount. There is a common denominator of 15 among 3 and 5. Therefore we will convert the fraction so they have the same denominator.

1/3 > 5/15

2/5 > 6/15

If Joy had read 5/15 of the book before reading at night, she already had the progress of being at 10/15 way through the book. At the end of the day, Joy had only 6/15 left of the book. To find the remainder, we subtract 10-6=4. This helps find the answer that Joy only read 4/15 of the book towards the end of the day.

The value of a collector’s item is expected to increase exponentially each year. The item is purchased for $500 and its value in
Reika [66]

Answer:

The value of the item after 4 years is $607.75

Step-by-step explanation:

* Lets revise the exponential function

- The original exponential formula was y = ab^x, where a is the initial

 amount and b is the growth factor

- The new growth and decay functions is y = a(1 ± r)^x. , the b value

 (growth factor) has been replaced either by (1 + r) or by (1 - r).

- The growth rate r is determined as b = 1 + r

* Lets solve the problem

- The value of a collector’s item is expected to increase exponentially

  each year, so we will yes the exponential equation y = a(1 + r)^x ,

  where y is the value of the item after x years

- The item is purchased for $500

∵ The initial amount is 500

∴ a = 500

- Its value increases at a rate of 5% per year

∵ The rate of increasing is 5% per year

∴ r = 5/100 = 0.05

- To find the value of the item after 4 years replace x by 4

∵ x = 4

∴ y = 500(1 + 0.05)^4

∴ y = 500(1.05)^4 = 607.75

∵ y is the value of the item after 4 years

∴ The value of the item after 4 years is $607.75
