Upper Mantle produces the magma that causes seafloor spreading and volcanoes. Other term for that is the lithosphere. It is a solid, outer part of the Earth, extending depth of around 100 kilometers. it includes the crust and the brittle upper portion of the mantle. It is the coolest and most rigid part of Earth.

A charge q is at the point x = 5.0 m , y = 0. Write expressions for the unit vectors you would use in Coulomb's law if you were
Flauer [41]

Answer:

A) \^r = \^y

B) \^r = -\^x

C) \^r = -0.14\^x + 0.99\^y

Explanation:

Coulomb's Law is

\vec{F}_{ab} = K\frac{q_1q_2}{r^2}\^r

where r is the distance between the two point charges.

The question clearly asks the unit vector expressions of the force that q exerts on the other charge. So, we do not need to find the force, but only the distance vector, r, between charges, and then we can derive the unit vector pointing only the direction of the force.

A) \vec{r} = \vec{r}_b - \vec{r}_a = (5\^x + \^y) - (5\^x + 0) = \^y\\\^r = \frac{\vec{r}}{|\vec{r}|} = \frac{\^y}{1} = \^y

B) \vec{r} = \vec{r}_b - \vec{r}_a = (0 + 0) - (5\^x + 0) = -5\^x\\\^r = \frac{\vec{r}}{|\vec{r}|} = \frac{-5\^x}{5} = -\^x

C) \vec{r} = \vec{r}_b - \vec{r}_a = (4.5\^x + 3.5\^y) - (5\^x + 0) = -0.5\^x + 3.5\^y\\\^r = \frac{\vec{r}}{|\vec{r}|} = \frac{-0.5\^x + 3.5\^y}{\sqrt{(0.5)^2+(3.5)^2}} = \frac{-0.5\^x + 3.5\^y}{3.53} = -0.14\^x + 0.99\^y

Find the horizontal component and the vertical component
aleksandr82 [10.1K]

Answer:

v=3.66,h-3.66

Explanation:

vertical = 10sin60 - 10sin 30

horizontal =10cos60 + 10cos 30

v = 10×0.8660-10×0.5

h = 10×0.5 + 10 × 0.8660

v=8.660-5.0 = 3.66

h= 5.0-8.660 = -3.66

There is a 247–m–high cliff at Half Dome in Yosemite National Park in California. Suppose a boulder breaks loose from the top of
Cerrena [4.2K]

Answer:

Vf = 69.61 m/s

Explanation:

We will use the third equation of motion to solve this problem:

2gh = V_{f}^2 - V_{i}^2\\

where,

g = acceleration due to gravity = 9.81 m/s²

h = height of cliff = 247 m

Vf = final velocity = ?

Vi = initial velocity = 0 m/s (boulder breaks loose from rest)

Therefore,

(2)(9.81\ m/s^2)(247\ m) = V_{f}^2 - (0\ m/s)^2\\V_{f} = \sqrt{4846.14\ m^2/s^2}\\

<u>Vf = 69.61 m/s</u>

What is the triboelectric effect?
SSSSS [86.1K]

Answer:

The triboelectric effect is an electrical phenomenon where certain materials become electrically charged after coming into contact with another, different, material. The polarity and strength of the charges produced differ according to material and surface smoothness.

Explanation:

The triboelectric effect causes an electrostatic charge to build up on the fur due to the cat's motions. The electric field of the charges results in a slight attraction of the light plastic pieces to the charged fur. The triboelectric effect is also the cause of static cling in clothes.

I hope this helps, if it doesn't then just message me and ill be more than happy to help :)

A 15 kg block is on a ramp which is inclined at 20o above the horizontal. It is connected by a string to a 19 kg mass which hang
12345 [234]

Answer:

The magnitude of the acceleration of the 19 kg block is 1.414 m/s²

Explanation:

From Newton's second law of motion;

F_{Net} = ma

where;

m is the mass of the objects involved, kg

a is the acceleration of the object, m/s²

different forces on the block and string

⇒force due to 15 kg block

=mgcosθ = 15×9.8×cos20 = 15×9.8×0.9396

= 138.12 N

⇒Tensional Force on 19 kg mass:

T = mg = 19×9.8 = 186.2 N

F_{Net} = T-mg = a(m_1+m_2)

186.2 - 138.12 = a(15+19)

48.08 =  a(34)

a = 48.08/34

a = 1.414 m/s²

Therefore, the magnitude of the acceleration of the 19 kg block is 1.414 m/s²
