The Supreme Court of Justice of the United States of America, also called the Supreme Court of Justice of the United States, is the highest court in the United States of America. As such, the Court is the head of the Judicial Power of the United States.
The Court is composed of a president (Chief Justice) and eight associate judges (Associate Justices), who are appointed by the president of the United States and confirmed by the "advice and consent" of the United States Senate. The appointed judges of the court serve for life and can only be removed by Congress through a process of impeachment. Judges may resign from their office of their own volition. No judge has been removed from office, although many have withdrawn or resigned.
