A particular refrigerant cools by evaporating liquefied CCl 2F 2. How many kg of the liquid must be evaporated to freeze a tray

of water to ice (at zero degrees C)? The tray contains 525 grams water. Molar heat of fusion of ice = 6.01 kJ/mol. Molar heat of vaporization of CCl 2F 2 = 17.4 kJ/mole

Answer : The mass of CCl_2F_2 evaporated must be, 1.217 kg

Explanation :

First we have to calculate the moles of water.

\text{Moles of water}=\frac{\text{Mass of water}}{\text{Molar mass of water}}

Molar mass of water = 18 g/mol

\text{Moles of water}=\frac{525g}{18g/mol}=29.17mol

Now we have to calculate the heat released.

Heat released = Moles of water × Molar heat of fusion of ice

Heat released = 29.17 mol × 6.01 kJ/mol

Heat released = 175.3 kJ

Now we have to calculate the moles of CCl_2F_2

Heat = Moles of CCl_2F_2 × Molar heat of vaporization of CCl_2F_2

175.3 kJ = Moles of CCl_2F_2 × 17.4 kJ/mol

Moles of CCl_2F_2 = 10.07 mol

Now we have to calculate the mass of CCl_2F_2

\text{Mass of }CCl_2F_2=\text{Moles of }CCl_2F_2\times \text{Molar mass of }CCl_2F_2

Molar mass of CCl_2F_2 = 120.9 g/mol

\text{Mass of }CCl_2F_2=10.07mol\times 120.9g/mol=1217.463g=1.217kg

Thus, the mass of CCl_2F_2 evaporated must be, 1.217 kg

Which of the following statements about the ordinary IR spectroscopic regions are TRUE? 1. In general, the IR FUNDAMENTAL region
yaroslaw [1]

Answer: the statements in 1 and 2 are true of IR spectroscopic region.

1. In general, the IR FUNDAMENTAL region has a longer wavelength region than the region we call the ultraviolet (uv) region.

2. We can sense some of the frequencies of the FUNDAMENTAL region of the IR as heat

Explanation:

IR has energy value between 10^-5eV - 10^-2eVwhile

UV has energy value of 4eV - 300eV

IR has low photon energy and cannot alter atoms and molecules while UV has sufficient energy to iodize atoms therefore UV has a higher energy band.

Infrared light falls just outside the visible spectrum, beyond the edge of what we can see as red.

Describe how radioactive isotopes are used to treaat cancer
stich3 [128]

Answer:

Radioisotope therapy is a procedure in which a liquid form of radiation is administered internally through infusion or injection. RIT's ultimate purpose is to treat cancerous cells with minimal damage to the normal surrounding tissue. These therapies are not normally the first approach used to fight a patient's cancer.

12. If a solution has a pH of 3, what would the pOH value of that solution be? *
butalik [34]

Answer:

The correct answer is pOH= 11

Explanation:

From the aqueous acid-base equilibrium we know that

pH + pOH = 14

If we know pH, we can calculate pOH as follows:

pOH = 14 - pH

In this problem, the solution has a pH of 3, so:

pOH = 14 - 3 = 11
