Option (d) is correct. The absolute magnitude of the Rigel is more than that of Sirius but it does not appear more bright in night sky.

Explanation:

The absolute magnitude of a star is defined as the magnitude of the brightness of the star. It depends on the total amount of the light emitted by the particular star.

The brightness of the star is measured in terms of two quantities. The absolute magnitude and the apparent magnitude of the star. The apparent magnitude of the star is the brightness observer by the observer which is present at a particular distance from the observer.

The distance of the star Sirius from the surface of the Earth is about 8\text{ light years} whereas the distance of the star Rigel from the surface of the Earth is about 850\text{ light years}.

The huge distance of the Rigel from the Earth makes it less brighter than the Sirius in the night sky in spite of having greater absolute magnitude. It is because the apparent magnitude of the star as observed on the Earth is greater for the star Sirius due to its smaller distance as compared to the Rigel.

Thus, Option (d) is correct. The absolute magnitude of the Rigel is more than that of Sirius but it does not appear more bright in night sky.

Rigel has a much greater absolute magnitude than Sirius, but appears to be much dimmer. This is due to the fact that Rigel is about one hundred times further away than Sirius. Sirius is a much lower energy star, but appears to be the brightest star in the sky because of its relatively close proximity of 8 light years.

The speed of propagation of the action potential (an electrical signal) in a nerve cell depends (inversely) on the diameter of t
zysi [14]

Answer:

Explanation:

Speed of electrical nerve signal = 33 m /s

Distance travelled = 1.3 m

time taken = distance / speed

= 1.3 / 33

= .039 s

= 39 ms ( millisecond )  .

Why are renewable energy resources going to be important in our future
marshall27 [118]
Renewable resources are going to be important in our future because if we use up all of our NON-renewable resources now, then we’ll still have the renewable resources to depend on.
I hope this helped! :-)

The suspended ash made for some some spectacular sunsets! Sulfuric acid was spread worldwide, increasing acidity of rain. Ash deflected energy from the sun, causing a slight drop on global temps for a few years.

A watermelon is dropped off of a 50 ft bridge, and it explodes upon impact with the ground. How fast was it traveling in mph upo
Drupady [299]

Answer: 56.72 ft/s

Explanation:

Ok, initially we only have potential energy, that is equal to:

U =m*g*h

where g is the gravitational acceleration, m the mass and h the height.

h = 50ft and g = 32.17 ft/s^2

when the watermelon is near the ground, all the potential energy is transformed into kinetic energy, and the kinetic energy can be written as:

K = (1/2)*m*v^2

where v is the velocity.

Then we have:

K = U

m*g*h = (m/2)*v^2

we solve it for v.

v = √(2g*h) = √(2*32.17*50) ft/s = 56.72 ft/s

1.A body of certain mass is kept at a height of 15m from the ground, taking the value of g as 10m/s find out the mass of the bod
ehidna [41]

Answer:

1.#potential energy = PE, m = mass in kg, g = force of gravity, h= vertical height above the ground. ** means to the power of ie exponent. * means multiply.

PE = mgh

300 = m(10)(15)

m = 300/(10)(15)

m= 2kg

2. KE = 1/2 mv**2

     = 1/2(50)(50)**2
