Answer:

It is not possible to make identical fruit baskets without leftover fruit.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : You are making fruit baskets using 54 apples 36 oranges and 73 bananas.

To find : Explain why you can't make identical fruit baskets without leftover fruit ?

Solution :

To make identical fruit basket without leftover fruit we need to distribute fruits equally.

So, We have to find the greatest common factor of the numbers

54=2\times 3\times 3\times 3

54=2\times 2\times 3\times 3

73=73\times 1

GCF of 54, 36 and 73 is 1.

GCF of 54 and 36 is 18.

If we divide 54 apples into 18 baskets, we have 3 apples in each basket

If we divide 36 oranges into 18 baskets, we have 2 oranges in each basket

If we divide 73 bananas into 18 baskets, we have 4 bananas in each basket + one banana left over.

Therefore, It is not possible to make identical fruit baskets without leftover fruit.

In triangle MNO shown below, segment NP is an altitude:
Effectus [21]

Answer:  C. Definition of an Altitude

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: In triangle MNO shown below, segment NP is an altitude from the right angle.

Let ∠MNP=x

Then ∠PNO=90°-x

Therefore in triangle MNO,

∠MPN=∠NPO =90°  [by definition of Altitude]

[Definition of altitude : A line which passes through a vertex of a triangle, and joins the opposite side forming right angles. ]

Now using angle sum property in ΔMNP

∠MNP+∠MPN+∠PMN=180°

⇒x+90°+∠PMN=180°

⇒∠PMN=180°-90°-x

⇒∠PMN=90°-x

Now, in ΔMNO and ΔPNO

∠PMN=∠PNO=90°-x

and ∠MPN=∠NPO =90°  [by definition of altitude]

Therefore by AA similarity postulate, we have

ΔMNO ≈ ΔPNO
