Digest is the compilation of the legal works of the Roman made in the year 530 AD by order of the Byzantine emperor Justinian I.

<em> The first Digest is known as Digesta sive Pandecta iuris</em>, and it is considered as the most important legal collection in the world.

<u>The historical objective of this compilation was oriented to the restoration of the old Roman Empire</u>, allowing to rescue its legal tradition and imposing a uniform set of laws on all the territory of its empire.
