Vertical line test says if you can draw a vertical line on a graph of a function and hit 2 or more points at once, it's not a function
you can see if you draw a line at x=4, you hit 3 points at once (and 3>2)
so it's not a function

60° in radian measure = 60° × π / 180°

60° × π / 180° = 1/3 π rad
= 0.33333333333π rad
= 1.0471975512 rad

The average of eight numbers is 56. When one of the numbers was left out, the mean decreased to 54. What number was left out?
lozanna [386]

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the average of 8 numbers = 56.

Then the Total sum of 8 numbers = 56 * 8

                                                        = 448.

Sum of 1st three numbers = 49 + 57 + 72

                                           = 178.

So, the total = 448 - 178

                    = 270.

Average of the other 5 numbers = 270/5

                                                      = 54.

Verification:

178 + 270 = 448/8

                = 56.

How to derive: f(w)=ln(cos(w-1))
postnew [5]
The word you're looking for is "differentiate", not "derive".

\dfrac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dw}\ln(\cos(w-1))=\dfrac{\frac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dw}\cos(w-1)}{\cos(w-1)}=\dfrac{-\sin(w-1)\frac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dw}(w-1)}{\cos(w-1)}=-\dfrac{\sin(w-1)}{\cos(w-1)}=-\tan(w-1)

If f(x) = x/2 -2 and g(x) = 2x^2 + x - 3, find (f+g) (x) A. 2x^2+3/2x +1 B. 2x^2+3/2x-5 C. x^2 - 6 D. 2X^2- x/2 + 1
Fed [463]

Answer:

              \bold{(f+g)(x)=2x^2+\frac32x-5}

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x) =\frac x2-2\quad and\quad g(x) = 2x^2 + x - 3\\\\(f+g)(x)=f(x)+g(x)\\\\(f+g)(x)=\frac12x-2+2x^2+x-3\\\\(f+g)(x)=2x^2+\frac32x-5
