If x = − 6 and y = 2 , evaluate the following expression: 2 ( y − 3 x y )
grigory [225]

       \rule{50}{1}\large\textsf{\textbf{\underline{Question:-}}}\rule{50}{1}

     <em>If x=-6 and y=2, evaluate 2(y-3xy)</em>

<em />

<em>      </em>\rule{50}{1}\large\blue\textsf{\textbf{\underline{Answer and how to solve:-}}}\rule{50}{1}

  First, We need to simplify the expression by multiplying the parentheses by 2:-

\longmapsto\sf{2y-6xy}

Now , Replace y with 2 and x with -6:-

\longmapsto\sf{2(2)-6(-6)(2)}

Simplifying,

\longmapsto\sf{4-6(-12)}

Further simplifying,

\longmapsto\sf{4+72}

Adding,

\longmapsto\underline{\boxed{\sf{76}}}

Hi,

Answer: 0.24 per liter

<u>My work:</u> This problem is easily achievable all you have to do is take your caculator and take price Melvin would pay with his loyalty card 1.679 and subtract it with 1.439. (1.679 - 1.439) When you do this you easily achieve your answer; Melvin pays 0.24 less per liter using his loyalty card.

I Hope it helped!

A student has gotten the following grades on his tests. What is the minimum grade he must get on the last test in order to have
likoan [24]

72 is the minimum grade he must get on the last test in order to have an average of 77.

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

The grades of a student are given 72,91,78,72 and the grade of his last test is not given.

  • You have to find the minimum grade the student shall get, so that the student average must be 77.
  • The four grades are already given. Therefore, we need to find only the fifth grade.

The term average is defined as the sum of all the data in a set divided by the number of data in a set.

Here, the number of data is 5. (Because the students has 4 grades plus one grade for his last test).

The average he should get is 77.

Average = Sum of all grades / number of grades

Let, 'x' be the grade of the last test.

⇒ 77 = (72+91+78+72+x) / 5

⇒ 77 = (313+x) / 5

⇒ 385 = 313 + x

⇒ x = 385 - 313

⇒ x = 72

The minimum grade he must get on the last test is 72.
