Answer:

Br_{4}Si is written incorrectly

Explanation:

In a molecular formula, the central atom in it's lewis structure is written first followed by other bonded atoms.

The least electronegative atom (except H) is the central atom in a lewis structure.

In Br_{4}Si, Si is the least electronegative atom as Br has higher electronegativity than Si. Therefore Si is the central atom in lewis structure of Br_{4}Si. So molecular formula of Br_{4}Si should be written as SiBr_{4}.

In all other cases, the least electronegative atom have been written first.

So, Br_{4}Si is written incorrectly.

Which characteristics are common to the three isotopes of hydrogen?
allsm [11]
D should be the correct answer.  isotopes are atoms that have the same atomic number (number of protons) but different atomic masses (number of protons and neutrons).  isotopes also have the same number of electrons since atoms need to have equal numbers of protons and electrons to not be considered ions.  Since the number of protons determines the chemical properties of the atom, we can say that all isotopes have the same chemical properties due to the fact that all isotopes have the same atomic number.

I hope this helps.  Let me know in the comments if anything is unclear.

Under what circumstances might be important to know the activity tendencies of elements?
ad-work [718]

Answer: It is very important to know the activity tendencies of the elements. The activity tendencies tells us about whether the element is reactive or not.

In the redox-reaction where there is a need to know the oxidizing agent and reducing agent, we can know it easily from the activity tendencies. The elements lying above the reactivity series are better reducing agents.

In the substitution reactions, the activity tendencies helps us to know which element will replace the other. The element lying above in the series will replace the element lying below it.

MX+NY \rightarrow MY+NX

where, N is an element that lies above in the reactivity series

M is an element that lies below in the reactivity series

A 0.5 mol sample of he(g) of ne(g) are placed separately in two 10.0 l rigid containers at 25°c. each container has a pinhole op
Serjik [45]
The movement of gases through pinhole is called effusion and the effusion rate indirectly proportional to the molar mass of gas

The lighter mass gas effuses faster than the heavier one
so He(g) will escapes faster and it will move with higher average speed because it has less mass than Ne(g)
