How many grams of nitric acid HNO₃, are required to neutralize (completely react with) 4.30 grams of Ca(OH)2 according to the ac
Brrunno [24]

Answer:

7.32g of HNO3 are required.

Explanation:

1st) From the balanced reaction we know that 2 moles of HNO3 react with 1 mole of Ca(OH)2 to produce 2 moles of H2O and 1 mole of Ca(NO3)2.

From this, we find that the relation between HNO3 and Ca(OH)2 is that 2 moles of HNO3 react with 1 mole of Ca(OH)2.

2nd) This is the order of the relations that we have to use in the equation to calculate the grams of nitric acid:

• starting with the 4.30 grams of Ca(OH)2.

,

• using the molar mass of Ca(OH)2 (74g/mol).

,

• relation of the 2 moles of HNO3 that react with 1 mole of Ca(OH)2 .

,

• using the molar mass of HNO3 (63.02g/mol).

4.30g\text{ Ca\lparen OH\rparen}_2*\frac{1\text{ mol Ca\lparen OH\rparen}_2}{74g\text{ Ca\lparen OH\rparen}_2}*\frac{2\text{ moles HNO}_3}{1\text{ mole Ca\lparen OH\rparen}_2}*\frac{63.02g\text{ HNO}_3}{1\text{ mole HNO}_3}=7.32g\text{ HNO}_3

So, 7.32g of HNO3 are required.

Which statement best describes the movement of atoms in a solid? They are able to slide past each other. They spread apart as fa
ANTONII [103]
The answer is: They have no freedom to move.
However is not completely true, as even in a solid atoms still a move a bit (vibrations).

If atoms were able to slide past each other, then we would have a liquid not a solid. Liquids "flow" but never really "break apart" this is because atoms are sliding between them, think of these as a bucket of marbles rolling down a slope.

If they are free to move in all directions, then you have a gas; that's why someone uses perfume in a room, eventually everyone smells it.

In the lab, you added an excess of acetic acid to drive the reaction forward, favoring products at equilibrium according to Le C
AysviL [449]

Answer:

Remove exess water

Explanation:

The reaction involved is an esterification reaction. Esterification is a reaction in which alcohol and carboxylic acid reacts to yield an ester and water. It is analogous to the inorganic neutralization reaction.

According to Le Chatelier's principle , one method of driving the equilibrium towards the forward reaction is by removal of one of the products. In this case, if water is removed, the forward reaction is favoured.

When forming bonds, atoms tend to acquire a stable electron configuration as in having 8 valence electrons. This is an example o
liubo4ka [24]

Answer:

The octet rule refers to the tendency of atoms to prefer to have eight electrons in the valence shell. When atoms have fewer than eight electrons, they tend to react and form more stable compounds. When discussing the octet rule, we do not consider d or f electrons.
