Well, that comparison is a metaphor. The Declaration of Independence birthed the U.S.A. This means the creation of this document is when America finally started after we won independence from the powers of Britain. It is like our country’s birth certificate because it will always serve as evidence of the day we first was given freedom to begin this new country.
This revolutionary document expressed an abiding faith in humanity and political ideals to which this nation still aspires. The Declaration of Independence has been called the birth certificate of the United States, and it is its adoption that Americans celebrate each year with fireworks on the Fourth of July.
