In this experiment, you will titrate a solution of HCl whose concentration is unknown with a solution of NaOH whose concentratio

n is known. Based on what you just reviewed, express this goal in the form of an investigative question that you can answer by doing the experiment.

How can the strength of an acid be determined using titration?

Here we have to get the equation or process by which the unknown concentration of HCl can be determined by the known concentration of NaOH.

The equation to determine the unknown concentration will be V_{HCl} ×  S_{HCl}  = V_{NaOH} × S_{NaOH}.

The volume of the HCl or titrant will be known as it will be taken in the conical flask and the volume of the titre i.e. NaOH will be taken in burret.   The indicator used in this titration is phenlopthalien.

At the end point the color of the colorless solution will become light pink and from the burret reading we can get the volume of NaOH required in the titration process.

On plugging the volume, strength of NaOH and volume of HCl, we can obtain the strength of HCl.

How does the density of solid water compare to the density of liquid water
jenyasd209 [6]

The ice structure takes up more volume than the liquid water molecules, hence ice is less dense than liquid water. What is the exact change in volume of the water when it freezes as ice? Example: Calculate the volume in a 100 g ice cube with a density of 0.92 g per mL.

What is the relationship between the internal energy of a substance and its particle movement?
ss7ja [257]

Answer: The closeness, arrangement and motion of the particles in a substance change when it changes state. Materials are a store of internal energy , due to the motion of particles and the chemical bonds between them. When a substance is heated, its internal energy increases: the movement of its particles increases.

400 mL of gas is contained at 300 mmHg and 0 °C. What will its volume be at 140 mmHg and 100 °C? 0°C 100°C
PIT_PIT [208]

Answer:

1171.12 mL

Explanation:

Using the combined gas law equation;

P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2

Where;

P1 = initial pressure (mmHg)

P2 = final pressure (mmHg)

V1 = initial volume (milliliters)

V2 = final volume (milliliters)

T1 = initial temperature (Kelvin)

T2 = final temperature (Kelvin)

According to the information provided in this question:

P1 = 300 mmHg

P2 = 140 mmHg

V1 = 400 mL

V2 = ?

T1 = 0°C = 273K

T2 = 100°C = 100 + 273 = 373K

Using P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2

300 × 400/273 = 140 × V2/373

120000/273 = 140V2/373

120000 × 373 = 273 × 140V2

44760000 = 38220V2

V2 = 44760000 ÷ 38220

V2 = 1171.115

The new volume is 1171.12 mL
