Assuming that is x+(2/3)=5/6 and not \frac{x+2}{3}=5/6

minus 2/3 both sides
x= \frac{5}{6} - \frac{2}{3}
2/3 times 2/2=4/6
x= \frac{5}{6} - \frac{4}{6}
x= \frac{5-4}{6}
x= \frac{1}{6}

You would subtract 2/3 from 5/6 and that should give you 1/6
