The Thrill amusement park charges an entry fee of $40 and an additional $5 per ride, x. The Splash water park charges an entry f

ee of $60 and an additional $3 per ride, x. Based on this information, which system of equations could be used to determine the solution where the cost per ride of the two amusement parks, y, is the same?

Answer: The two equations are:
y = 5x + 40
y = 3x + 60

In each problem, you are given the cost per ride. That is the slope, it goes in front of the x.

Then, you are also given the entry fee. That is the y-intercept, it goes at the end of the equation.

Now, the equations are in slope intercept form. Y = MX + B

Graphing the equations will give an answer of (10, 90)
This means for both plans 10 rides will cost $90.

The diameter of Joe's large pizza is 19 inches. Approximately how many inches are there in the circumference of the large pizza?
Burka [1]

Answer:

There are 59.66 inches in the circumference of the large pizza.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that:

Diameter of Joe's large pizza = 19 inches

Diameter = 2r

2r = 19

Circumference of large pizza = 2πr = 2r * π

Circumference of large pizza = 19*3.14

Circumference = 59.66 inches

Therefore,

There are 59.66 inches in the circumference of the large pizza.

What is the value of i ^20+1?
matrenka [14]
Hey Mattchance666,

    Lets solve this equation together,

The question we are enquiring is : What is the value of i ^20+1?

To solve this equation: we have to use the Power Reduction Rule.

Where I^n=I{n mod 4}

    In this case: I^20 = I^{5*4+0}=I^0

1 + 1 = 2

Hope this helps,

Derive the equation of the parabola with a focus at (6,2) and a directrix of y=1
Nataly [62]
If the focus is at (6, 2) and the directrix is a horizontal line y = 1, then that tells us that is an x^2 parabola. Since the parabola hugs the focus, it will open upwards since the focus is above the directrix. The rule here is that the vertex is the same distance from the focus as it is from the directrix. If the focus is at a y-value of 2 and the directrix is at y = 1, then the vertex is right in between them as far as the y coordinate goes, which is 1.5. It will have the same x coordinate at the focus. The vertex is in the form (h, k), so our h is 6, and our k is 1.5. The vertex is (6, 1.5). The standard form of a parabola of this type is (x-h)^2=4p(y-k), where p is the distance from the vertex to the focus. Our p is 1/2. Using the h and k from the vertex, and the p of 1/2, we now have this as our equation, not yet simplified: (x-6)^2=4( \frac{1}{2})(y-1.5). That will simplify a bit to (x-6)^2=2(y-1.5). Depending upon how you are to state your answer, how it needs to "look" in the end will vary. I am going to FOIL the left and distribute the right and then put everything on one side and set it equal to y. That would be this: \frac{1}{2}( x^{2} -12x+39)=y. And there you go!

The sum of first three terms of an arithmetic series is 21. If the sum of the first two terms is subtracted from the third term
Ronch [10]

Answer:

The terms are - 1, 7 and 15.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the terms be a-d, a and a+d

ATQ, a-d+a+a+d=21, a=7. a+d-(a+(a-d))=9. d=8. The terms are - 1, 7 and 15.

the organic cafe has 15 pastries for sale, including 6 peach scones. what is the probability that a randomly selected pastry wil
Vinvika [58]

Answer:

Probability of getting Peach scone pastry = 3 / 5

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Total number of pastries in store = 15

Number of Peach scone pastry = 6

Find:

Probability of getting Peach scone pastry

Computation:

Probability = Number of event / Total outcomes

Probability of getting Peach scone pastry = Number of Peach scone pastry / Total number of pastries in store

Probability of getting Peach scone pastry = 6 / 15

Probability of getting Peach scone pastry = 3 / 5
