It takes 36 minutes less time to travel 120 miles by car at night than by day because the lack of traffic allows the average spe

ed at night to be 10 miles per hour faster than the daytime. Find the average speed in the daytime.

Let the average speed at day time be x miles per hour

Therefore at night the average speed = (x + 10) miles per hour

Time = Distance / speed

Time at day  -  Time at night =  36 minutes.

36 minutes = 36/60 hour =  6/10 hour

Time at day = Distance / speed at day =  120 / x

Time at night = Distance / speed at night =  120 / (x + 10)

  120/x   -  120/(x + 10) = 6/10

     1/x  -  1/(x + 10)  =  6/10* 1/120

       1/x -  1/(x + 10) =  1/200

         ((x + 10) - x) / ((x)(x+10)) = 1/200

             (x + 10 - x) / ((x)*(x+10)) = 1/200

                     10 / ((x)*(x + 10)) = 1/200

                         1 / ((x)*(x + 10)) = 1/2000

   Therefore        x (x + 10) =  2000

           x and x +10      are          40 and 50.    Because 40*50 = 2000

           x = 40

     Average speed in the day time = 40 miles per hour

Given: PKHE - inscribed, m∠E=120°<br> m∠EPK=51°, PF ∥EH<br> Find: m∠KPF, m∠H.
3241004551 [841]

Answer:

KPF = 9 and H = 129

Step-by-step explanation:

An inscribed quadrilateral in a circle has all diagonal angles add up to 180, so we can use this to find the angles of the quadrilateral.

H= 180-EPK and K = 180-E so H = 129 and K = 60

Now PF and EH are parallel, so PE is a transversal.   That means FPE = 180 - E = 60.  Now it's pretty easy to solve for KPF = FPE - EPK = 60 - 51 = 9.

Let me know if you don't see how I did any of this and I'll be happy to explain it..

A square scarf has a side length of 3/4 yard on each side.
denis-greek [22]

Answer:

\frac{9}{16}\ yd.^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of a square: a^2 = a*a

A = a^2\\\\A = \frac{3}{4}* \frac{3}{4}\\\\A =  \frac{9}{16}

Therefore, the answer of the scarf is \frac{9}{16}\ yd.^2

Hope this helps!

Can anyone please help anyone bro
xxTIMURxx [149]
F(x) and g(x) were inverse functions, then if f(a) = b, then g(b) = a

f(x) = (5x+1) / x g(x) = x / (5x+1)

f(1) = 6, but g(6) = 6/31 ≠ 1

So, f(x) and g(x) are NOT inverse functions.

If you were to solve the following system by substitution, what would be the best variable to solve for and from what equation?
zepelin [54]
Honestly this problem you can use both x and y but x tends to be the easier one to use and i would use the first equation because it is easier to solve because all the numbers are even.<span />
