Explain how the energy investing and energy harvesting steps of glycolysis result in 2 ATP molecules.

Biology

Answer:

There are two-phase of glycolysis preparatory phase and payoff phase. In the preparatory phase, ATP is used therefore it is called the energy investment phase and in the payoff phase, ATP is produced so it is called the energy generation phase.

In preparatory phase 2 ATP is used and it is converted into ADP and in pay off phase 4 ATP is produced from ADP. Therefore by subtracting 2 from 4, we get 2 ATP. Therefore in glycolysis, energy investing and energy harvesting step results into two ATP molecules.

Gneiss goes through metamorphosis at a higher temperature than slate so it has a higher
Vika [28.1K]

Answer:

Grade of metamorphism

Explanation:

Gneiss forms at a higher grade of metamophic slate. Slate forms at low metamorphic conditions just about a few temperature and pressure.

From the prolith materials exposed to metamorphic conditions, transformations begins as metamorphic changes begins to take place. First, a sediment is transformed into slate, from slate to phyllite, from phyllite to schist, schist to gneiss, gneiss to migmatite and migmatite goes back to melt. These transformation of sediments is controlled by the nature of the prolith materials and the prevailing metamorphic conditions.
