Slow to warm up temperament: There are four types of temperament found in children in which slow to warm up is one of them. Many children are shy and slow to warm up when they meet with unknown or difficulty in adapting to the new situation. These types of children are happy with anyone. They just wanted by specific people or close ones with whom they are familiar like a mother, father or grandparents, etc. They just ignore it when someone offers a big hug because they feel safe in their parent's arms.
Thomas and Chess recognizes children's behavior by the temperamental types --

-- slow-to-warm-up.
But contemporary developmental scientists have identified nine traits to define the mood or behavior of the children. Some of the nine traits are positive emotionality, effortful control and negative emotionality.
