I did the same thing you did ... I added up the "scores" column
and divided the total by 5 .  That answer is 2 .

Then I read what you said about the answer sheet, so I went back
and looked at the problem again.<em />  Good thing I did.  You have to look
and see what the first column says, and what it means.

There are FIVE different students who each scored 4.
There are THREE different students who each scored 3.
There are FOUR different students who each scored 2.
.
.
etc.

The total of all the scores is 44, not 10.
The  total number of students is 20, not 5.

That's where the "2.2" comes from.

Your neighbor has decided to enlarge his garden. The garden is rectangular with width 6 feet and length 15 feet. The new garden
Nana76 [90]

Answer:

Original garden: 42 feet

Enlarged garden: 98 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Perimeter = length (2) + width (2)

<u>Original perimeter:</u>

P = 15(2) + 6(2)

P = 30 + 12

P = 42 feet

In this problem, similar is proportional, so the new garden will be proportional to the old one.

If the original length was 15 and the new length is 35, then 15 would have had to have been multiplied by 2 1/3. That means you need to multiply 6 by 2 1/3, which is 14. That means the dimensions of the enlarged yard is 14 (width) × 35 (length).

<u>Enlarged perimeter</u>

P = 35(2) + 14(2)

P = 70 + 28

P = 98 feet

The average maximum monthly temperature in Campinas, Brazil is 29.9 degrees Celsius. The standard deviation in maximum monthly t
kvv77 [185]

Answer:

P(X>32)=P(\frac{X-\mu}{\sigma}>\frac{32-\mu}{\sigma})=P(Z>\frac{32-29.9}{2.31})=P(z>0.909)

And we can find this probability with the complement rule and using the normal standard distributon table or excel we got:

P(z>0.909)=1-P(z

And if we convert this to a % we got 18.2 % of maximum temperatures higher or equal than 32 C

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

The Z-score is "a numerical measurement used in statistics of a value's relationship to the mean (average) of a group of values, measured in terms of standard deviations from the mean".

Solution to the problem

Let X the random variable that represent the maximum monthly temperature of a population, and for this case we know the distribution for X is given by:

X \sim N(29.9,2.31)

Where \mu=29.9 and \sigma=2.31

We are interested on this probability

P(X>32)

And the best way to solve this problem is using the normal standard distribution and the z score given by:

z=\frac{x-\mu}{\sigma}

If we apply this formula to our probability we got this:

P(X>32)=P(\frac{X-\mu}{\sigma}>\frac{32-\mu}{\sigma})=P(Z>\frac{32-29.9}{2.31})=P(z>0.909)

And we can find this probability with the complement rule and using the normal standard distributon table or excel we got:

P(z>0.909)=1-P(z

And if we convert this to a % we got 18.2 % of maximum temperatures higher or equal than 32 C

Can someone help me with this. we’re doing solving system by substitution
garik1379 [7]

Answer:

x=5  y=13

Step-by-step explanation:

-2(3x-2)+3x=-11

-3x+4=-11

solve for x: -3x+4=-11

                     -3x=-15

                       x=5

y=3x-2 sub in the 5

y=3(5)-2

y=13
