A Trek Cycles manufactures and sells bicycles to retailers. The X-1 model sells for $500 and has per-unit variable costs of $300
tankabanditka [31]

Answer:

Instructions are below.

Explanation:

Giving the following information:

Selling price= $500

Unitary variable cost= $300

Fixed costs= $30,000

Units sold= 300

First, we need to calculate the contribution margin:

Contribution margin= 500 - 300= $200

Now, the contribution margin ratio:

Contribution margin ratio= contribution margin/selling price

Contribution margin ratio= 200/500= 0.4

Finally, the contribution margin income statement:

Sales= 500*300= 150,000

Total variable cost= 300*300= (90,000)

Contribution margin= 60,000

Fixed costs= (30,000)

Net operating income= 30,000

Using these data from the comparative balance sheet of Rollaird Company, perform horizontal analysis.
iris [78.8K]

Answer:

1) Accounts receivable amount = $550,200 - $420,000

Accounts receivable amount = $130,200

% increase = $130,200/$420,000 * 100

% increase = 0.31 * 100

% increase = 31%

2. Inventory amount = $855,600 - $620,000

Inventory amount = $235,600

% increase = $235,600/$620,000 * 100

% increase = 0.38 * 100

% increase = 38%

3. Total asset amount = $2,909,750 - $2,575,000

Total asset amount = $334,750

% increase = $334,750/$2,575,000 * 100

% increase = 0.13 * 100

% increase = 13%

A firm in a perfectly competitive market has a fixed cost of $1,000 and a variable cost of $500 while it is earning the revenue
grin007 [14]

Answer:

Firm should not shut down, as it is able to cover its Average Variable Cost

Explanation:

Perfect Competition firms in Short Run : The firms produce even if their average revenue (price) < their average total costs (AC). They continue production until Average variable cost (AVC) ≥ per unit price (P) i.e average revenue (AR). This is called Shut Down Point. P lower beyond AVC implies that firm won't continue even in short run.

Given : Variable Cost (VC) = 500 ; Revenue (R) = 510

Average Variable Costs & Average Revenue are variable costs & revenue, per unit quantity. AVC = VC / Q ; AR (P) = R / Q

R i.e 510 > VC i.e 500

So, R/ Q i.e AR is also > VC / Q i.e AVC

Since AVC > AR (P), firm should not shut down

the cost of land improvements are capitalized separately from land because land improvements tend to have a useful life.
lisabon 2012 [21]

Land improvements are capitalized separately from Land because land improvements have only a limited useful life.

Land is a special fixed asset which means that:

 • It is purchased for long term use
 • It is not depreciated because it lasts forever

Land improvements on the other hand, will not last forever. They will eventually wear out and need to be replaced. They are therefore capitalized separately from land so that they can be depreciated if need be.

In conclusion, land improvements are capitalized separately from land because they have a limited useful life.
