Two loudspeakers, 5.5 m apart and facing each other, play identical sounds of the same frequency. You stand halfway between them

, where there is a maximum of sound intensity. Moving from this point toward one of the speakers, you encounter a minimum of sound intensity when you have moved 0.21 m . Assume the speed of sound is 340 m/s. Part A) What is the frequency of the sound? Part B) If the frequency is then increased while you remain 0.21 m from the center, what is the first frequency for which that location will be a maximum of sound intensity? Express your answer to two significant figures and include the appropriate units. Please show ALL steps, equations AND how you get the frequency in Hz.

Answer:

a)   f = 809.5 Hz ,  b)    f = 1619 Hz

Explanation:

The condition for destructive interference from the speakers is

             Δr / lam = Ф / 2π

             λ = Δr 2π / π

We substitute

            λ = 0.21 2 π/π

             Lam = 0.42 m

Now let's use the ratio of the speed of sound and the wavelength and the frequency

                v = λ f

                f = v /λ

                f = 340 / 0.42

                f = 809.5 Hz

b) in this case the intensity is maximum

         Lam = Δr 2π / 2π

          Lam = 0.21 m

          fF= v / lam

          f = 340 / 0.21

         f = 1619 Hz

What is the energy of light that must be absorbed by a hydrogen atom to transition an electron from n = 3 to n = 5?
alina1380 [7]

Answer:

The energy absorbed by a hydrogen atom is 1.549 X10⁻¹⁹ J

Explanation:

Using Bohr's equation; the energy absorbed by the hydrogen atom can be calculated as follows:

\delta E = (\frac{1}{n_2{^2}} -\frac{1}{n_1^{2}})13.6eV

When an electron moves from a lower energy level to a higher energy level, energy is absorbed by the atom.

Lower energy level (n₂) = 3

Higher energy level (n₁) = 5

1 eV = 1.602X10⁻¹⁹ C

\delta E = (\frac{1}{3{^2}} -\frac{1}{5^{2}})13.6X1.602X10^{-19}

ΔE = 1.549 X10⁻¹⁹J

The energy absorbed by a hydrogen atom  to transition an electron from n = 3 to n = 5 is 1.549 X10⁻¹⁹ J

When equilibrium is reached in an electrochemical cell, the voltage reaches its maximum value. 1. false 2. true?
tigry1 [53]

False

Voltage in an electrochemical cell is in indication of equilibrium, higher will be the non-equilibrium, higher will be the voltage, or we can say at equilibrium voltage tends to 0.

Voltage in an electrical cell is the result of flow of electron, which flow due to difference in charge of the cells, higher the charge difference higher will be the voltage, as the equilibrium between the chemical cells established the flow of electron will stop, and the voltage of the cell tend to 0.
