4. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to make 10mmol/L acetate buffer, pH5.0. Beginning with 10mmol/L HAc, what concen

Answer:

6,45mmol/L of NaOH you need to add to reach this pH.

Explanation:

CH₃COOH ⇄ CH₃COO⁻ + H⁺ pka = 4,74

Henderson-Hasselbalch equation for acetate buffer is:

5,0 = 4,74 + log₁₀\frac{[CH_{3}COO^-]}{[CH_{3}COOH]}

Solving:

1,82 = \frac{[CH_{3}COO^-]}{[CH_{3}COOH]} (1)

As total concentration of acetate buffer is:

10 mM = [CH₃COOH] + [CH₃COO⁻] (2)

Replacing (2) in (1)

[CH₃COOH] = 3,55 mM

And

[CH₃COO⁻] = 6,45 mM

Knowing that:

CH₃COOH + NaOH → CH₃COO⁻ + Na⁺ + H₂O

Having in the first 10mmol/L of CH₃COOH, you need to add 6,45 mmol/L of NaOH. to obtain in the last 6,45mmol/L of CH₃COO⁻ and 3,55mmol/L of CH₃COOH .

I hope it helps!

Which polyatomic ion is found in the compound represented by the formula NaHCO3?
stiv31 [10]

Answer: The correct option is 2.

Explanation: Polyatomic ions are defined as the ions in which two or more elements are covalently bonded to act as a single unit. They always carry some charge.

Examples of polyatomic ions are: OH^- known as hydroxide ion, SO_4^{2-} known as sulfate ion

We are given a compound NaHCO_3 having 2 ions which are Na^+ and HCO_3^-. these ions are named as sodium ions and hydrogen carbonate ions.

Therefore, the correct option is 2.

What is a change in matter that produces one or more substances?
Arte-miy333 [17]

Answer:

chemical change, or chemical reaction.

Explanation:

A change in matter that produces one or more new substances is a chemical change, or chemical reaction. In a chemical change, atoms rearrange to form new substances, which results in different physical properties, as well. ( you could have looked it up on google lol )

A laser pointer emits light that has a wavelength of 5.32x 10–7 m. What is the frequency of the light?
butalik [34]

Answer:

Frequency = 0.6 × 10¹⁵ s⁻¹

Explanation:

Given data:

Wavelength = 5.32 × 10⁻⁷ m

Frequency = ?

Solution:

Formula:

speed of light = wavelength × frequency

Frequency = speed of light / wavelength

Frequency = 3 × 10⁸ m/s / 5.32 × 10⁻⁷ m

Frequency = 0.6 × 10¹⁵ s⁻¹
