Answer:

The equipment will cost $1740.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the Cost of equipment, furniture and decoration be x, y and z.

Now, According to question,

x + y + z = 3600 ...... (1)  (cost of all items)

x = 500 + y (∵ equipment cost 500 more than furniture)

and y = 2z ( ∵ furniture twice as much as decoration)

so, z = y/2

Now substituting the value of x and z in eq (1)

x + y + z = 3600

500 + y + y + \frac{y}{2} = 3600

2y + \frac{y}{2} = 3600 - 500

\frac{5y}{2} = 3100

y = \frac{3100\times 2}{5} = 1240

So, the cost of furniture (y) = 1240

∴ Cost of equipment = y + 500 = 1240 + 500 = 1740

Therefore the cost of equipment was $1740.

The patient recovery time from a particular surgical procedure is normally distributed with a mean of 5.3 days and a standard de
inna [77]

Answer:

<em>The probability of spending between 4 and 7 days in recovery</em>

<em>P(4≤x≤7) = 0.5445</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

<u><em>Step(i):-</em></u>

Given mean of the Population μ = 5.3 days

Given standard deviation of the population 'σ' = 2 days

Let 'X' be the random variable in normal distribution

Let    x₁ = 4

Z_{1} = \frac{x_{1}-mean }{S.D} = \frac{4-5.3}{2} = -0.65

Let    x₂ = 7

Z_{2} = \frac{x_{2}-mean }{S.D} = \frac{7-5.3}{2} = 0.85

<u><em>Step(ii):-</em></u>

<u><em>The probability of spending between 4 and 7 days in recovery</em></u>

<em>P(4≤x≤7) = P(-0.65≤Z≤0.85)</em>

<em>              =  P(Z≤0.85) - P(Z≤-0.65)</em>

<em>             = 0.5 + A( 0.85) - ( 0.5 - A(-0.65) </em>

<em>             = 0.5 + A( 0.85) -  0.5 +A(0.65)   ( ∵A(-0.65) = A(0.65)</em>

<em>            =   A(0.85) + A(0.65)</em>

<em>           = 0.3023 + 0.2422</em>

<em>          = 0.5445</em>

<u><em>Final answer:</em></u><em>-</em>

<em>The probability of spending between 4 and 7 days in recovery</em>

<em>P(4≤x≤7) = 0.5445</em>

The number of people arriving for treatment at an emergency room can be modeled by a Poisson process with a rate parameter of si
OverLord2011 [107]

Answer:

a) P(x=3)=0.089

b) P(x≥3)=0.938

c) 1.5 arrivals

Step-by-step explanation:

Let t be the time (in hours), then random variable X is the number of people arriving for treatment at an emergency room.

The variable X is modeled by a Poisson process with a rate parameter of λ=6.

The probability of exactly k arrivals in a particular hour can be written as:

P(x=k)=\lambda^{k} \cdot e^{-\lambda}/k!\\\\P(x=k)=6^k\cdot e^{-6}/k!

a) The probability that exactly 3 arrivals occur during a particular hour is:

P(x=3)=6^{3} \cdot e^{-6}/3!=216*0.0025/6=0.089\\\\

b) The probability that <em>at least</em> 3 people arrive during a particular hour is:

P(x\geq3)=1-[P(x=0)+P(x=1)+P(x=2)]\\\\\\P(0)=6^{0} \cdot e^{-6}/0!=1*0.0025/1=0.002\\\\P(1)=6^{1} \cdot e^{-6}/1!=6*0.0025/1=0.015\\\\P(2)=6^{2} \cdot e^{-6}/2!=36*0.0025/2=0.045\\\\\\P(x\geq3)=1-[0.002+0.015+0.045]=1-0.062=0.938

c) In this case, t=0.25, so we recalculate the parameter as:

\lambda =r\cdot t=6\;h^{-1}\cdot 0.25 h=1.5

The expected value for a Poisson distribution is equal to its parameter λ, so in this case we expect 1.5 arrivals in a period of 15 minutes.

E(x)=\lambda=1.5

Isaiah has $7.15 in Dimes and Nickels. He has a total of 91 coins. How many of each coin does he have? Group of answer choices d
yarga [219]

Answer:

Dimes = x = 52

Nickels = y = 39

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

Dimes = x

Nickels = y

x + y = 91 (1)

0.10x + 0.05y = 7.15 (2)

From (1)

x = 91 - y

Substitute x = 91 - y into (2)

0.10x + 0.05y = 7.15

0.10(91 - y) + 0.05y = 7.15

9.10 - 0.10y + 0.05y = 7.15

- 0.10y + 0.05y = 7.15 - 9.10

-0.05y = -1.95

y = -1.95 / 0.05

= 39

Substitute y = 39 into (1)

x + y = 91

x + 39 = 91

x = 91 - 39

x = 52

Dimes = x = 52

Nickels = y = 39
