Answer:

The inverse is (x^2-5)/2

Step-by-step explanation:

y =sqrt(2x+5)

Exchange x and y

x = sqrt(2y+5)

Solve for y

Square each side

x^2 = (sqrt(2y+5))^2

x^2 = 2y+5

Subtract 5 from each side

x^2 -5 = 2y-5+5

x^2 -5 = 2y

Divide each side by 2

(x^2-5)/2 = 2y/2

(x^2-5)/2 = y

The inverse is (x^2-5)/2

Draw a box and whisker plot for 23.5,18.2,3.3,23.3,11.3,18.8,78.8,69.1,2.2,16.1,54.9,44.8,37.4
k0ka [10]

Answer:

The box plot is attached below.

Step-by-step explanation:

A box plot, also known as a box and whisker plot is a method to demonstrate the distribution of a data-set based on the following 5 number summary,

1. Minimum (shown at the bottom of the chart)

2. First Quartile (shown by the bottom line of the box)

3. Median (or the second quartile) (shown as a line in the center of the box)

4. Third Quartile (shown by the top line of the box)

5. Maximum (shown at the top of the chart).

It can be said that the box and whisker plot provides information about the location of the center, dispersion and skewness (measure of asymmetry) of the data. Also in a boxplot outliers are marked as distinct points.

The data provided is:

S = {23.5, 18.2, 3.3, 23.3, 11.3, 18.8, 78.8, 69.1, 2.2, 16.1, 54.9, 44.8, 37.4}

Use the Minitab tool to form the graph.

The steps are as follows:

Step 1: Enter the data.

Step 2: Go to Graphs - Box plot. A dialog box will open.

Step 3: Select the graph labelled as "Boxplot– One Y, Simple"

Step 4:  A dialog box will open. Select the graph variable.

Step 5: Go to Data View. A dialog box will open.

Step 6: Select the values wanted. Click OK.

Step 7: Click “OK” in the window “Boxplot– One Y, Simple.”

The box plot is attached below.
