In a plant, roots absorb water and nutrients. Those materials are then transported to other parts of the plant. Which statements

describe the system in an animal that functions in a similar way? Choose all answers that are correct. A. The circulatory system is responsible for transporting materials throughout the animal's body. B. The endocrine system is responsible for transporting materials throughout the animal's body. C. The water in a plant's system functions like the blood in an animal's body, moving needed nutrients throughout the organism. D. The water in a plant's system functions like the hormones in an animal's body, and hormones move nutrients throughout the animal's body.

I would say A and C. The circulatory system moves blood and nutrients similar to the plant moving water and nutrients. The endocrine system is responsible for hormones, glands and other such functions.

34 atoms of carbon react with 22 molecules of hydrogen gas. How many molecules of methane will be formed & what will be left
pychu [463]
Each carbon atom will react with 4 hydrogen atoms to form methane (C H_{4}) Since there are 2 hydrogen atoms in a hydrogen molecule (H_{2}) then each carbon atom will react with 2 hydrogen molecules. Since there are 22 hydrogen molecules half as many methane molecules will be formed, so 11. Then we can subtract 11 from 34 to find the number of carbon atoms left over.

So in summary, 11 methane molecules will be formed and there will be 23 carbon atoms left over.

The oxidation of the sugar glucose, C6H12O6, is described by the following equation. C6H12O6(s) + 6 O2(g) → 6 CO2(g) + 6 H2O(l)
Ivahew [28]

Answer:

(a) 282 kJ

(b) 67.4 Calories

Explanation:

(a) The molar enthalpy, ΔH = −2802.5 kJ/mol, means that the heat produced by the reaction is 2802.5 kJ per mol of glucose.

We can multiply the enthalpy by the number of moles of glucose to get the heat produced by the metabolism. Grams of glucose will be converted to moles using the molar mass of glucose (180.156 g/mol):

(18.1 g)(mol/180.156g)(2802.5 kJ/mol) = 282 kJ

(b) Using the result we obtained above, kJ will be converted to Calories using the conversion factor of 4.184J = 1 cal. Calorie with a capital C is the same as a kilocalorie.

(282 kJ)(1 cal/4.184J) = 67.4 kcal = 67.4 Calories
