All you need to do is add these up. Get rid of the $ symbols, the fact that it's money doesn't play a part in the calculation.

0.85 + 4.50 + 1.50 = 6.85

An easy way to make this easier is to add the part before the decimal place first so 4 + 1 = 5. Then add 0.5 + 0.5 that makes 1. So you have 6. Now you just have 0.85 left. So the answer is 6.85.

Step-by-step explanation:

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2l + 2w

where

l is the length

w is the width

From the question

The length is 3x + 7

The width is 2x + 2

The perimeter is

2( 3x + 7) + 2( 2x + 2)

Simplify

6x + 7 + 4x + 4

Group like terms

6x + 4x + 7 + 4

We have the final answer as

10x + 11

Hope this helps you

How do you create your equations when working on a mixture word problem?

Let's try to think about the general form of a word problem involving mixtures.

In general, we have the following scenario:

a merchant sells two kinds of products (coffee, sweets, etc).

we know the unit prices for both kinds of products and for the final mixture

p

1

US dollars per pound for the first kind of product,

p

2

US dollars per pound for the second kind of product

p

m

US dollars per pound for the mixture

we know the total quantity formed by the mixture of the two products (

q

pounds)

we have to find out the quantities of each product needed to form the mixture

(here we have the variables:

x

denoting the quantity of the first kind of product and

y

denoting the quantity of the second kind of product)

Now, we have sufficient information to work out the equations.

First, we know that the sum of the two quantities is

q

pounds, which gives us the first equation:

x

+

y

=

q

Second, we know that the sale price is the product of quantity and unit price, which gives us the second equation:

p

1

x

+

p

2

y

=

p

m

⋅

q

Now, we have a system of two linear equations that can be easily solved by substitution.

HELP?
poizon [28]
My "work" is to enter the equations into a graphing calculator and let it show me the answers--just as your "work" is to copy the question to Brainly.

The solutions are
 (x, y) = (-0.5, 7.5)
 (x, y) = (3, 25)

_____
When you equate the expressions for y, you get the quadratic
 2x² -5x -3 = 0
 (2x +1)(x -3) = 0
 x = -1/2 or 3
 y = 5(x +2) = 15/2 or 25

Write the quadratic equation whose roots are 1 and -2, and whose leading coefficient is 3.
kirill115 [55]

Answer:

 • See below

Step-by-step explanation:

The quadratic equation in factored form:

 • a(x - α)(x - β), where a- leading coefficient, α and β - roots

We have:

 • a = 3, α = 1, β = -2

Substitute them to get:

 • 3(x - 1)(x + 2)

Converting this into standard form:

 • 3(x - 1)(x + 2) =
 • 3(x² + x - 2) =
 • 3x² + 3x - 6

The length of segment HJ if H lies at (-1,7) and J lies at (8,-5)
sukhopar [10]

Answer:

HJ = 15

Step-by-step explanation:

To get the length of segment HJ if H lies at (-1,7) and J lies at (8,-5), we will use the formula for calculating the distance between two points as shown;

D = √(x₂-x₁)²+(y₂-y₁)²

From the coordinates x₁ = -1, y₁ = 7, x₂ = 8, y₂ = -5

HJ = √(8-(-1))²+(-5-7)²

HJ = √(8+1)²+(-12)²

HJ = √81+144

HJ = √225

HJ = 15

Hence the length of segment HJ is 15 units
