A professional driver drove a long linear route at an average speed of 30 miles per hour. Immediately after completing this driv

e, the driver turned around drove back on the same route at an average speed of 70 miles per hour. If the round trip took 2 hours, how many miles long is this route?

Answer:

84 miles long is the route

Explanation:

Let the distance is d

It is given that driver drove his car with 30 miles per hour

So time t=\frac{d}{30}

And when he return his velocity is 70 miles per hour

So time t=\frac{d}{370

We know that average speed =\frac{total\ distance}{total\ time}=\frac{2d}{\frac{d}{30}+\frac{d}{70}}=42m/sec

Total time of the trip is given as 2 hour

So total distance = total time × average speed = 42×2 = 84 miles

Answer:

The route was 42 miles long.

Explanation:

Let the distance covered from starting point to end point be x.

Average speed of the car = 30 mile/hour

Time taken to cover x distance = t

t=\frac{x}{30 mile/hr}

The distance covered from end point point to starting point back = x

Average speed of the car = 70 mile/hour

Time taken to cover x distance = t'

t'=\frac{x}{70 mile/hr}

Average speed of the car:

\frac{x+x}{t+t'}=\frac{2x}{\frac{x}{30 mile/hr}+\frac{x}{70 mile/hr}}=42 mile/hour

Total time taken in round trip  = 2 hours

\text{Average speed}=\frac{\text{Total distance}}{\text{Total time}}

42 mile/hr=\frac{\text{Total distance}}{2 hr}

Total distance covered by car= 42 mile/hr × 2 hr = 84 miles

Distance of the route = 84 ÷ 2 = 42 mile

A book falls off a shelf that and hits the ground at 10.0 m/s. How far did it fall?
ELEN [110]

Answer:

Explanation:

14 m/s

Explanation:

The motion of the book is a free fall motion, so it is an uniformly accelerated motion with constant acceleration g=9.8 m/s^2 towards the ground. Therefore we can find the final velocity by using the equation:

where

u = 0 is the initial speed

g = 9.8 m/s^2 is the acceleration

d = 10.0 m is the distance covered by the book

Substituting data, we find

Can a tank of oxygen gas ever be half empty?
alisha [4.7K]
No. Any amount of gas always expands to completely fill
whatever container it's in.

So, as you take oxygen out of the tank, the pressure of what's
left in the tank certainly becomes less and less, but whatever is
left in the tank always expands and fills the whole tank.

(And then, eventually, when the pressure inside the tank drops
to equal the pressure outside it (atmospheric pressure), you could
cut off the whole top of the tank and nothing more would come out.)

SCUBA divers regularly talk about having a 'full tank', and 'half a tank',
and maybe a 'quarter tank'.  But that refers to the amount of time that
the tank can still deliver air to them under water.  It's not the amount
of volume inside the tank that's full or empty.  The inside of the tank
is always full.

Think about it this way:  ==>  There's no way to take half of the air
out of a balloon, leaving it half empty and still inflated. Doesn't happen.

Which is a correct representation of .000025 in scientific notation?
lidiya [134]

0.000025 → 2.5 × 10⁻⁵ → 2.5E-5

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

Scientific notation represents the precise way scientists handle exceptionally abundant digits or extremely inadequate numbers in the product of a decimal form of number and powers of ten. Put differently, such numbers can be rewritten as a simple number multiplied by 10 raised to a certain exponent or power. It is a system for expressing extremely broad or exceedingly narrow digits compactly.

Scientific notation should be in the form of

\boxed{ \ a \times 10^n \ }

where

\boxed{ \ 1 \leq a \ < 10 \ }

The number 'a' is called 'mantissa' and 'n' the order of magnitude.

From the key question that is being asked, we face the standard form of 0.000025.

\boxed{ \ 0.000025 = \frac{25}{1,000,000} \ }

The coefficient (or mantissa), i.e. 25, is still outside of 1 ≤ a < 10. Both the numerator and denominator are divided by 10.

\boxed{ \ 0.000025 = \frac{2.5}{100,000} \ }

The denominator consists precisely of five zero digits.

Hence, 0,000025 is written in scientific notation as  \boxed{\boxed{ \ 2.5 \times 10^{-5} \ or \ 2.5E - 5 \ }}

The inverse of scientific notation is the standard form. To promptly change scientific notation into standard form, we reverse the process, move the decimal point to the right or left. This expanded form is called the standard form.

<u>A notable example:</u>

\boxed{ \ 3.0 \times 10^{8} \ Hz \ \rightarrow 300,000,000 \ Hz \ or \ 300 \ MHz}
