When does the cell have to use active transport?

Biology

The best answer is D.

In active transport, molecules move against a concentration gradient from areas of lower concentration to areas of higher concentration. This happens a lot in neurons. The membrane proteins are constantly pumping ions in and out  to get the membrane of the neuron ready to transmit electrical impulses.

In active transport , energy is required to move molecules across the cell membrane. Carrier proteins are needed for this e.g. proteins of the GLUT family which transport glucose molecules across the cell membrane. Carrier proteins are very specific. GLUT proteins will only move glucose molecules and not sodium or calcium. There are hundreds of types of carrier proteins.

Single depurination event occurred in the GC base pair of the sequences so find the C in the 1st sequence & find the G in the 2nd sequence. These are not repaired, so the C & G are eliminated. Then 2 rounds of replication occur in the same spots where the C & G were. Take the letter previous to the empty spots & replicate it in the empty spots. TAAT. ATTA

Which digestive hormone is secreted when fats and carbohydrates, especially glucose, enter the small intestine?.
blsea [12.9K]

Gastric inhibitory peptide (GIP) a digestive hormone is secreted when fats and carbohydrates, especially glucose, enter the small intestine.

  • A member of the secretin family of hormones, glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide is an inhibitory hormone.
  • It is sometimes referred to as gastric inhibitory polypeptide or stomach inhibitory peptide.
  • The enteroendocrine K-cells, which are widespread in the small intestine secrete GIP.
  • The hormone gastric inhibitory polypeptide, which is released by intestinal mucosal cells, prevents the stomach from producing hydrochloric acid.
  • Additionally, it improves the islets of Langerhans' beta cells' ability to secrete insulin, which results in a considerable increase in blood insulin concentrations following oral glucose delivery.
