2x = 3
x = 3/2
x = 1.5

3x - 2 = 3(1.5) - 2 = 2.5
or
x + 1 = 1.5 + 1 = 2.5

P = 4(2.5) = 10

perimeter of square is 10 cm so side of square = 2.5cm
