Andrew makes $6 an hour plus $9 an hour for every hour of overtime. Overtime hours are any hours more than 40 hours for the week

.Create an equation that shows the amount of wages earned, W, for working x hours in a week when there is no overtimeCreate an equation that shows the amount of wages earned, S, for working y hours of overtime. Hint: Remember to include in the equation the amount earned from working 40 hours. Andrew earned $330 in 1 week. How many hours (regular plus overtime) did he work?

Hi there, seems that you need help. I'm going to put these in parts!

Part A: Create an equation that shows the amount of wages earned, W, for working x hours in a week when there is no overtime.
Part A: W =6x

Part B: Create an equation that shows the amount of wages earned, S, for working y hours of overtime. Hint: Remember to include in the equation the amount earned from working 40 hours.

Part B: Since without overtime it is 6 $ per hour and you need to make 40 hours
            you would multiply 6 *40 = 240
            So S = 240 + 9y

Part C: Andrew earned $330 in 1 week. How many hours (regular plus overtime) did he work?

Part C: [Substitute]
            Since Andrew earned 330 you would substitute it for S

330 = 240 + 9y <--- solve for y

330  ( - 240 ) = 240 ( - 240 ) 9y  < ---- subtract 240 from each side
90 = 9y
90 / 9 = 9y / 9 <----- divide by 9

10 =y Andrew worked 10 hours for overtime

Check

330 = 240 + 9(10)
330 = 240 + 90
330 = 330 <-- your answer is 10

Branden and Pete both play running back. Branden carries the ball 75 times for 550 yards and Pete had 42 carries for 380 yards w
mars1129 [50]

Answer:

Pete runs farther per carry.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Branden and Pete both play running back.

Branden carries the ball 75 times for 550 yards.

Pete had 42 carries for 380 yards

Question asked:

Who runs farther per carry ?

Solution:

First of all we find each boy's distance covered per carry:-

For Branden

Branden carries the ball 75 times for = 550 yards.

Branden carries the ball 1 time for = \frac{550}{75} =7.34\ yard

For Pete

Pete carries 42 times for = 380 yards

Pete carries 1 time for = \frac{380}{42} =9.05\ yards

As Pete runs 9.05 yards for 1 carry while Branden runs 7.34 yards for 1 carry, hence Pete runs farther per carry.

If a lot contains 48,000 square feet and is 240' wide, how deep is the lot?
lisabon 2012 [21]
We would assume the lot takes a rectangular shape. With that in mind. the area of the rectangular plot is 48, 000 and its width is 240. We only need to know the area of a rectangle which is L * W.
So 48, 000 = L * 240
L = 48, 000/ 240
L = 200
It is 200 square feet deep.

Someone help me pls

47 as the sum of ______
Elanso [62]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  (a) 6² +3² +1² +1² = 47

  (b) 5² +4² +2² +1² +1² = 47

  (c) 3³ +4² +2² = 47

Step-by-step explanation:

It can work reasonably well to start with the largest square less than the target number, repeating that approach for the remaining differences. When more squares than necessary are asked for, then the first square chosen may need to be the square of a number 1 less than the largest possible.

The approach where a cube is required can work the same way.

(a) floor(√47) = 6; floor(√(47 -6^2)) = 3; floor(√(47 -45)) = 1; floor(√(47-46)) = 1

__

(b) floor(√47 -1) = 5; floor(√(47-25)) = 4; ...

__

(c) floor(∛47) = 3; floor(√(47 -27)) = 4; floor(√(47 -43)) = 2
