Andrew makes $6 an hour plus $9 an hour for every hour of overtime. Overtime hours are any hours more than 40 hours for the week

.Create an equation that shows the amount of wages earned, W, for working x hours in a week when there is no overtimeCreate an equation that shows the amount of wages earned, S, for working y hours of overtime. Hint: Remember to include in the equation the amount earned from working 40 hours. Andrew earned $330 in 1 week. How many hours (regular plus overtime) did he work?

Hi there, seems that you need help. I'm going to put these in parts!

Part A: <span>Create an equation that shows the amount of wages earned, W, for                     working x hours in a week when there is no overtime.
</span>Part A: W =6x

<span>Part B: Create an equation that shows the amount of wages earned, S, for                 working y hours of overtime. Hint: Remember to include in the                         equation the amount earned from working 40 hours.

</span>Part B: Since without overtime it is 6 $ per hour and you need to make 40                   hours
            you would multiply 6 *40 = 240
            So <span>S = 240 + 9y
</span>

<span>Part C: Andrew earned $330 in 1 week. How many hours (regular plus                       overtime) did he work?

</span>Part C: [Substitute]
            Since Andrew earned 330 you would substitute it for S
<span>
330 = 240 + 9y</span> <--- solve for y

330  ( - 240 ) = 240 ( - 240 ) 9y  < ---- subtract 240 from each side
90 = 9y
90 / 9 = 9y / 9 <----- divide by 9

10 =y   Andrew worked 10 hours for overtime

Check

330 = 240 + 9(10)
330 = 240 + 90
330 = 330 <-- your answer is <span>10</span>

Sierra has enough fencing to make three chicken coops shown each has the same perimeter which has the greatest area?
andrezito [222]

Answer:

Top left triangle has the greatest area

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of a triangle:

area = base × height / 2

a = bh/2

Top Left Triangle:

a = 6 × 5.2 / 2

a = 31.2 / 2

a = 15.6

Top Right Triangle:

a = 8 × 2.9 / 2

a = 23.2 / 2

a = 11.6

Bottom Left Triangle:

a = 2 × 7.9 / 2

a = 15.8 / 2

a = 7.9

Compare areas:

15.6 > 11.6 > 7.9

The side of the base of a square prism is decreasing at a rate of 7 kilometers per minute and the height of the prism is increas
Ber [7]

Answer:

dV = - 5.73*10⁹ m³/s

Step-by-step explanation:

Question: What is the rate of change of the volume of the prism at that instant (in cubic meters per second) ?

A function can be dependent on one or more variables. The change in the function due to a change in one o its variables is given by the functions derivative with respect to that variable. For functions that are composed of products of its variables, we may use the product rule to determine its derivative.

The volume of a square prism with base a and height h is given by

V = a²h

When the base and height are changing, we have

dV = 2ah(da/dt) +  a²(dh/dt)

Given

a = 4 Km

h = 9 Km

da/dt = - 7 Km/min

dh/dt = 10 Km/min

we have

dV = 2(4 Km)(9 Km)(- 7 Km/min) +  (4 Km)²(10 Km/min)

⇒   dV = - 504 Km³/min + 160 Km³/min = - 344 Km³/min

⇒   dV = - 5.73*10⁹ m³/s
