A metal block of mass 265 g rests at a point 2.4 m from the center of a horizontal rotating wooden platform. The coefficient of

static friction between the block and the platform is 0.257. The platform initially rotates very slowly but the rotation rate is gradually increasing. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s 2 . At what minimum angular velocity of the platform would the block slide away? Answer in units of rad/s.

Answer:

The minimum angular velocity of the platform what whould the block slides away is w= 2.26 rad/s.

Explanation:

m= 0.265 kg

r= 2.4 m

μ= 0.257

g= 9.8 m/s²

W= m * g

W= 2.597 N

Fr= μ * W

Fr= 0.66 N

∑F = m * ac

W+Fr = m * ac

(W+ Fr) / m = ac

ac= 12.29 m/s²

ac= w² * r

√(ac/r)= w

w= 2.26 rad/s

What is the definition of work when net force is parallel to the distance?
goldfiish [28.3K]
Work in general is given by W=F·d where F is the force vector and d is the displacement vector.  The dot symbol is the dot product which is a measure of how parallel two vectors are.  It can be replaced by the cosine of the angle between the two vectors and the vectors replaced by their magnitudes.  If F and d are parallel then the angle is zero and the cosine is unity.  So in this case work can be defined as the product of the magnitudes of the force and distance:

I NEED HELP PLEASE, THANKS! :)
UkoKoshka [18]

Answer:

Explanation:

1) Hypermetropia (better known as Farsighted- this is why nearby objects seem blurry for him)

2) In such instances, image are typically formed farther from the near point

3) Such defects are quite common so there are common procedures such as using convex lens which can restore the sight to normal.

The data table below shows the distribution of the energies of a pendulum 0.60 s into its motion. What is the missing value?
ohaa [14]
The total energy (also called mechanical energy) is the sum of the kinetic energy and potential energy:
TE = KE + PE
For this pendulum, we see that at t=0.60 s the total energy is TE=0.918 J while the potential energy is 0.054 J, so the kinetic energy (the missing value in the table) is
KE=TE-PE=0.918 J - 0.054 J =0.864 J
