They are saying to write a quadratic that can be factored so you can start with factors and then expand it like say:

(x+1)(x+2)  are arbitrary factors, then the expansion is

x^2+3x+2  which we know can then be factored to what we started with...

In general to factor a quadratic of the form ax^2+bx+c, you need to find two values, j and k, which satisfy two conditions:

ac=jk=2 and b=j+k=3, so j and k must be 1 and 2

Then you replace bx with jx and kx in the original equation to get:

x^2+x+2x+2  now factor 1st and 2nd pair of terms...

x(x+1)+2(x+1) which is equal to

(x+1)(x+2)

....

If j and k are integers, the above method is the quickest and easiest.

Next in line of preference is completing the square if there are fractional numbers in the original equation.

And if there are very difficult decimals or fractions it is best to just use the quadratic formula (which is derived from completing the square)

Suppose that the time (in hours) required to repair a machine is an exponentially distributed random variable with mean 1/0.41/0
lbvjy [14]

Answer:

a) P(t>3)=0.30

b) P(t>10|t>9)=0.67

Step-by-step explanation:

We have a repair time modeled as an exponentially random variable, with mean 1/0.4=2.5 hours.

The parameter λ of the exponential distribution is the inverse of the mean, so its λ=0.4 h^-1.

The probabity that a repair time exceeds k hours can be written as:

P(t>k)=e^{-\lambda t }=e^{-0.4t}

(a) the probability that a repair time exceeds 3 hours?

P(t>3)=e^{-0.4*3}=e^{-1.2}= 0.30

(b) the conditional probability that a repair takes at least 10 hours, given that it takes more than 9 hours?

The exponential distribution has a memoryless property, in which the probabilities of future events are not dependant of past events.

In this case, the conditional probability that a repair takes at least 10 hours, given that it takes more than 9 hours is equal to the probability that a repair takes at least (10-9)=1 hour.

P(t>10|t>9)=P(t>1)

P(k>1)=e^{-0.4*1}=0.67

Tukey HSD Interpretation
Mariulka [41]

Answer:

The solution can be defined as follows:

Step-by-step explanation:

They also have a significant outcome in our instance. Its value of F is 1.773, with such a p-value of 0.212 achieved meaning (which is greater than the .05 alpha level). It means that the press with different levels of stress of the stress variable may not differentiate objectively.

Even so, we still do not know which one of the multiple mechanisms is significant. They realize the diff. To do just that, the results of the Tukey HSD test should be regarded.

HSD Tukey

Looking at the Multiple Correlations table below, you will see that mean values were created for the standard deviation among pairs of various stress varying concentrations (High - Low; High - Medium )

This can be seen on one-way ANOVA(1.773, p=.212), there's no statistically significant difference between the groups. A Tukey post hoc study has observed that the increase among medium and high stress is statistically significant, as well as the difference among low, medium, and high stress is important.
