A triangle with 30°, 60° & 90° angles is called a semi equilateral triangle.

In such a triangle the hypotenuse equal the side of the equilateral triangle,  and the opposite side to the angle 30° is equal half the side of the equilateral or half the hypotenuse.

Assume the side equal 8 & the other 8/2 = 4. let's calculate the 3rd side by applying Pythagoras:

8²  = 4² + x² ;  64 = 16 + x²  or x² = 64-16 ; x² =48 and
x =√48 = √16. 3 = 4√3

So the 3 sides are 8, 4 and 4√3 (answer B)

If we say that side "a" is the shortest (adjacent), side "b" is the second shortest (opposite), and side "c" is the longest (hypotenuse): then angle A would be 30°,  angle B would be 60°, and angle C would be 90°

tan B = b/a
 or
a tan B = b

they have 4 as the smallest value in all four options, so we know that a=4

4 tan 60° = b
tan 60° = √3
so, 4 tan 60° = 4√3
b=4√3

that leaves two options left, so now we find "c":

c^2 = (a^2) + (b^2)
OR
c= \sqrt{a^{2} + b^{2}}

c= \sqrt{4^{2}+(4\sqrt{3})^{2}}

c= \sqrt{16+48} \\ c=\sqrt{64} \\ c=8

so a=4, b=4√3, and c=8

The length of a rectangle is 5 feet more than twice the width. The perimeter is 130 feet. Find the dimensions.
Dahasolnce [82]
So,

The problem tells us that the length of the rectangle is 5 feet more than twice the width.
Mathematically:
length = 5 + 2width
l = 5 + 2w

We know that the perimeter is 2l + 2w.
2l + 2w = 130

2(5 + 2w) + 2w = 130

Distribute
10 + 4w + 2w = 130

Collect Like Terms
10 + 6w = 130

Subtract 10 from both sides
6w = 120

Divide both sides by 6
w = 20

The width is 20.

Since
l = 5 + 2w

Substitute
l = 5 + 2(20)

Multiply
l = 5 + 40

Collect Like Terms
l = 45

The length is 45.

Check
2l + 2w = 130

2(45) + 2(20) = 130

90 + 40 = 130

130 = 130

Width: 20 ft.
Length: 45 ft.

tisha and megan have the same number of stickers. if tisha gives 1/3 of her stickers to megan, what will the ratio of tisha's st
FromTheMoon [43]

Tisha:Megan ratio 1:1

assume they both have 6 stickers so ratio = 6:6 total stickers = 12

1/3 of 6 = 2 which is given to Megan so ratio is now 4:8

so ratio of Tisha:Megan = 1:2
