Allosteric enzymes bind at different site from the substrate binding site.

Explanation:

The activities of some enzymes, particularly those which form a part of a chain of reactions like metabolic pathways, are regulated internally. Some specific low molecular weight substances such as the products of another enzyme further on in the chain, acts as the inhibitor. Such a modulator substance binds with a specific site of the enzyme different from the substrate binding site. This binding increases or decreases the enzyme action. Such enzymes are called allosteric enzymes and the site at which they bind is called allosteric site.

Example: Hexokinase is an enzymes which converts glucose to glucose-6-phosphate in glycolysis. Decline in the enzyme activity by the allosteric effect of the product is called feedback mechanism, like the allosteric inhibition of hexokinase by glucose-6-phosphate,

Rice Plants need to stand in a lot of water for growth. The Borders (bunds) of a rice field have to be Strong to hold the Water. The Farmer Planted Grass Plants on the Borders because, Grass has Fibrous roots which bind the soil of the bund and hold it together.

This question is based on the Mendel’s Experiment. Sir Gregor Johann Mendel was the father of genetics who experimented on garden pea plants <em>Pisum</em> <em>sativum</em> to see whether the characters got mixed or not and to know the real cause behind different traits of same character in plants.

He took the pure homozygous tall and short plants separately which he called as parental generation or P generation. These plants were homozygous, hence pure breeding.

As these plants were crossed between themselves, then the F1 generation showed all tall plants. This is because of the heterozygous plants which showed character of dominant trait. These plants were allowed to self pollinate.

As a result of self pollination of the F1 plants, the F2 plants were 75% tall in number whereas the other 25% short, which gave the phenotypic ratio of 3:1.
