Factors that cause a person to experience stress are called stressors. These stressors can include different things, varied from injury, fear, illness, to anxiety.

EXPLANATION:

Stress is the body’s response to mental, physical, or emotional changes, forces, or situations. In most cases, stress often occurs as a response to situations that are perceived as being difficult to handle. It’s very normal for a person to feel stressed out. Since a stressful condition is caused by different factors, each person has a different response to stress. These factors are called stressors, which can result from internal and external factors.

Internal factors:

  • Feelings
  • Attitudes
  • Expectations

External factors:

  • Situations
  • Events
  • Environment

Besides internal and external factors, common causes for stress also include psychological and physical factors. Psychological causes include fear and anxiety, while physical causes include injury or illness.

However, some people are prone to stress than others. Personality traits play an important role in triggering stress and effect or stress. Some of the personality traits that may increase the risk of stress include aggression, impatience, over-competitiveness, pessimism, and excitability.

Depends on the factors that cause it, stress can also be acute, episodic, and chronic. As the most common type, acute stress usually results from pressures or certain events. But if the acute stress occurs frequently, it’s called episodic stress. Meanwhile, chronic stress is a serious condition that usually happens when a stressful condition is continuous.
