The clinical implications of this strongly negate proceeding with Upper GI series when both Crohn’s disease patient who also has an inflamed colon.

A 62-year-old man with a history of congestive heart failure presents with severe respiratory distress and an oxygen saturation
Serhud [2]

Answer:

The steps that must be taken with this 62-year-old man, who presents with congestive heart failure, severe respiratory distress and a saturation of 82%, aside from widespread crackling lung sounds, would be:

1. Place a CPAP device to increase the oxygenation capacity of the lungs by increasing the pressure of oxygen that enters the lungs and the volume of it. The respiratory distress, and the low saturation comes from the problems his lungs are having due to the congestive heart failure condition. Fluid in the lungs themselves due to the condition lower the lungs´ capacity to exchange oxygen with the air, and this also causes the low saturation. It means the blood is not getting enough molecules of oxygen per breath. The CPAP will increase the pressure of O2 and its availability in air, so the lungs can capture more.

2.  Monitor blood pressure. It must be remembered that congestive heart failure means the heart is unable to pump enough blood to sustain the needs of the different tissues. As a result, the body responds to this defficiency through adaptive mechanisms and shock mechanisms that will not necessarily benefit the body. One such measure is increasing blood pressure to maximize the possibility of oxygen exchange between tissues and the blood. However, this pressure will further damage the tissues that have already been affected, especially lung tissues, and will exacerbate this patient´s situation.

3. Monitor all vital signs to determine improvement of the patient, or lack of it, to determine the next steps: probable use of oxygen by mask, probable need of intubation, and transfer to a hospital.

What are the basic hormonal and anatomical differences between men and women?
Rufina [12.5K]

Answer:

The more testosterone a man has, the stronger his brow, cheekbones and jaw line. Meanwhile, the more estrogen a woman has, the wider her face, fuller her lips and the higher her eyebrows. In short, sex hormones control the divergence of male and female facial features.

Along with chiseled jaws, higher testosterone has been shown to correlate with muscle strength and aggression in men, as well as with genetic vigor. Perhaps for this reason, studies have shown that women judge men with more angular features as likely to be dominant over men with rounder, more effeminate faces.

They also tend to rate men with masculine features as more attractive, especially when they themselves are ovulating and, thus (at least subconsciously) on the lookout for a male sex partner who'll produce fit offspring. When they're looking for a long-term partner, on the other hand, studies show that women tend to prefer men with more effeminate features, who have less testosterone and are likely to be more loyal partners and caring fathers. A 5 Mhz ultrasound beam in soft tissue reflects off an object 5 cm deep. The time required to receive the echo at the transducer
miss Akunina [59]

Answer:

The time required to receive the echo at the transducer is t=3.34\times 10^{-10}\ s

Explanation:

Frequency of ultrasonic beam, f = 5 MHz

It reflects off an object 5 cm deep.

We need to find the time required to receive the echo at the transducer. The ultrasonic wave is an electromagnetic wave. it moves with a speed of light. Let t is the time taken by the wave to go once.

So,

t=\dfrac{d}{c}

t=\dfrac{0.05\ m}{3\times 10^8\ m/s}

t=1.67\times 10^{-10}\ s

Time to receive the echo at the transducer gets doubled. So,

t=3.34\times 10^{-10}\ s

Hence, this is the required solution.
