graph C represents - z

z = (6.40, 38.66°) which is in the first quadrant

- z is in the opposite direction to z and in fourth quadrant.

Both graphs, however, are in the fourth quadrant

consider the magnitudes of both complex numbers to determine which graph is the correct one

Graph C has endpoint at (- 5, - 4 ), hence

magnitude = √((- 5)² + (- 4)²) = √(25 + 16) = √41 ≈ 6.4

Graph D has endpoints (- 3, - 6), hence

magnitude = √((- 3)² + (- 6)²) = √(9 + 36) = √45 ≈ 6.7

Answer: (c)

The vector in the graph (c) has a magnitude of about

|z|=\sqrt{(-5)^2+(-4)^2}=\sqrt{41}\approx6.40

and the angle slightly less than 45 degrees from the x-axis as can be judged from the fact that it crosses the first box just below the point (-2,-2). This is the main distinction between (c) and (a) which is also similar in magnitude, however has an angle that is just larger than 45 degrees.

How many solutions does this linear system have?
Andrews [41]

Answer:

x = 0 , y = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve the following system:

{y = 4 - 3 x | (equation 1)

x + 2 y = 8 | (equation 2)

Express the system in standard form:

{3 x + y = 4 | (equation 1)

x + 2 y = 8 | (equation 2)

Subtract 1/3 × (equation 1) from equation 2:

{3 x + y = 4 | (equation 1)

0 x+(5 y)/3 = 20/3 | (equation 2)

Multiply equation 2 by 3/5:

{3 x + y = 4 | (equation 1)

0 x+y = 4 | (equation 2)

Subtract equation 2 from equation 1:

{3 x+0 y = 0 | (equation 1)

0 x+y = 4 | (equation 2)

Divide equation 1 by 3:

{x+0 y = 0 | (equation 1)

0 x+y = 4 | (equation 2)

Collect results:

Answer: {x = 0 , y = 4

mart [117]

Answer:

41. f⁻¹(x) = -9x + 4

43. m⁻¹(x) = ∛(x-2)/4

Step-by-step explanation:

41. y = (4-x)/9

swap x and y: x = (4-y)/9

solve y: 9x = 4-y

             y = -9x + 4

45. y = 4x³+2

     x = 4y³+2

     4y³ = x-2

     y³ = (x-2)/4

     y = ∛(x-2)/4

Let you do 42 and 46 by yourself

Which is equivalent?
Arlecino [84]

Steps to simplify:

(2x + 3)(x - 7)

~Use FOIL to multiply

(2x * x) + (2 * -7) + (3 * x) + (3 * -7)

~Simplify

=2x² - 14x + 3x - 21

~Combine Like Terms

2x² + (-14x + 3x) - 21

~Simplify

2x² - 11x - 21 (Option 2)
