A lot of people find it easier to visualize what the least to greatest would look like. So imagine a number line that starts (in the middle) at 0. All numbers to the right get GREATER and GREATER. Basically what I'm trying to say is the farther you are to the left the smaller you are.
Another way you can think of it is you could remove the negative, and put them in order from least to greatest. Then when you add the negative back you would flip the order.
