Hi there!

(f + g)(x) = f(x) + g(x)

(f + g)(x) = (3ˣ + 10x) + (4x - 2)

(f + g)(x) = 3ˣ + 10x + 4x - 2

(f + g)(x) = 3ˣ + 14x - 2

~ Hope it helps!

Hi there!

First we need to remember the following.
(f + g)(x) = f(x) + g(x)

Now substitute both of the formulas.
(f + g)(x) = ({3}^{x} + 10x)+ (4x - 2)

Work out the parenthesis.
(f + g)(x) = {3}^{x} + 10x + 4x - 2

And finally collect terms.
(f + g)(x) = {3}^{x} + 14x - 2

~ Hope this helps you!

1 solution. it can't be 2, and if you solve it, there is a solution, x stays in the equation, so there's 1 solution

The commuting time for a student to travel from home to a college campus is normally distributed with a mean of 30 minutes and a
Rainbow [258]

Answer:

0.1587

Step-by-step explanation:

Let X be the commuting time for the student. We know that X\sim N(30, (5)^2). Then, the normal probability density function for the random variable X is given by

f(x) = \frac{1}{\sqrt{2\pi(5)^{2}}}\exp[-\frac{(x-\mu)^{2}}{2(5)^{2}}]. We are seeking the probability P(X>35) because the student leaves home at 8:25 A.M., we want to know the probability that the student will arrive at the college campus later than 9 A.M. and between 8:25 A.M. and 9 A.M. there are 35 minutes of difference. So,

P(X>35) = \int\limits_{35}^{\infty}f(x)dx = 0.1587

To find this probability you can use either a table from a book or a programming language. We have used the R statistical programming language an the instruction pnorm(35, mean = 30, sd = 5, lower.tail = F)

What is the equation for the line in slope-intercept form?
masha68 [24]

Answer:

y=mx+b is slope-intercept form

where m is the slope and b is the y intercept.

Since the line crosses the y axis at 0,0 the intercept is +0 or just nothing.

now all we need to do is find the slope

to do that just go from the y intercept (the first point) y units up and x units over untill u cross at the next point. for examples from (0, 0) to (1, 8)-the next point- i need to go up 8 units up and 1 unit over. this is described as rise over run and that is your slope 8/1 rise/run. rise is how many units i go up (or down) from the y intercept until the next point that lies on the line and run is how far i need to go over from how many units i just went up. If u continue to go 8 up and 1 over from each point u will see that u get a point lying of the line. This is why 8/1 is your slope

8/1 is the slope and 0,0 is your y intercept so we put nothing

the equation is y=8x
