The half-cell is a chamber in the voltaic cell where one half-cell is the site of the oxidation reaction and the other half-cell

is the site of the reduction reaction.
Type the half-cell reaction that takes place at the anode for the cobalt-silver voltaic cell. Indicate the physical states using the abbreviation (s), (l), or (g) for solid, liquid, or gas, respectively. Use (aq) for an aqueous solution. Do not forget to add electrons in your reaction.

Answer:

The half reaction at anode will be:

Co(s)--->Co^{+2}(aq)+2e

Explanation:

The voltaic cell has silver and cobalt.

The standard reduction potential values of the two are

Cobalt = -0.28 V

Silver = +0.79 V

Out of the two cobalt will act as anode and silver will act as cathode

Cobalt has low reduction potential so it will undergoes oxidation by silver which will in turn undergoes reduction.

The half reaction at anode will be:

Co(s)--->Co^{+2}(aq)+2e

The half reaction at cathode will be:

Ag^{+}(aq)+e--->Ag(s)

The overall reaction will be:

Co(s)+2Ag^{+}(aq)--->Co^{+2}(aq)+2Ag(s)

Can gravity be considered a force? Explain your reasoning
bija089 [108]

Answer:

I think that gravity can be considered a force.

Explanation:

As the object falls, it moves faster and faster. Gravity is considered a universal force because it acts between any two masses anywhere in the universe. For example, there is a gravitational pull between the Sun and the Moon. Even small masses attract one another.

Hope this helped! :)
