These citizens believe that Hoover could have done more for citizens at this time, especially when it came to financial assistance and job help. However, Hoover was an avid supporter of laissez faire economics. This meant that he felt that the economy worked best when the government did not get involved. Ultimately, Hoover would become a wildly unpopular president due to his lack of action.
