The Renaissance popes utilized their position in the Catholic church to rule over.

The most prominent policies of them are

i) To build and take the rule of 'Papal States' under them

ii) To debase the reputation and power of noble families of Italy and engage war on them

iii) To make themselves rich and they deposited the jewels in the city of Rome

Impacts were that many people found the system unsatisfactory and they paid less attention to the system. The only concern the people had was in religious matters.

The Popes in the Renaissance period was black marked in the pages of history, with the exception of few like Adrian VI, others were concerned on worldly matters and became money-oriented. Due to this, many people opted out from being members of Catholic Church.
