Many years ago, scientists and doctors had no idea what caused diseases in people. There were theories that people who succumbed

to disease had breathed bad air, had committed a bad deed, or even that they had bad blood, prompting doctors to let out some of their blood. During a cholera outbreak in London in 1854, John Snow, a London physician and scientist, mapped the location of the cholera victims. He was a skeptic of the "bad air" theory and proposed that a contaminated water source was the cause of the cholera outbreak. His map showed a cluster of early deaths around a particular water pump. The disease outbreak declined because the water pump was closed (by removing its handle) and because people had fled the area. His idea that the disease was caused by contaminated water was confirmed by an inspection of the well that discovered raw sewage had seeped into it. Which of the following is this the best example of?

A violinist tuning her violin plays her A-string while sounding a tuning fork at A 415 Hz, and hears 5 beats per second. When sh
frutty [35]

Answer:410 Hz

Explanation:

It is given that frequency of tuning fork is 415 Hz and hears a beat of 5 beat per second

so untuned frequency must be either 410 Hz or 420 Hz because beat frequency is the difference in frequency of two notes.

When she tightens the string the beat frequency decrease

and velocity v=\nu \lambda

where \nu =frequency

\lambda =wavelength

v=velocity

v=\sqrt{\frac{T}{\mu }}

where T=tension

it T increase v also increases and from 1 st equation frequency is also increasing therefore untuned frequency must be 410 Hz because beat frequency is decreasing.

tia_tia [17]

Answer:

The resistance of the heater wire is of R= 0.68 Ω.

Explanation:

1 cal/s = 4.184 W

P= 50 cal/s = 209.2 W

V= 12V

P= V* I

I= P/V

I= 17.43 A

P= I² * R

R= P / I²

R= 0.68 Ω

The speed of an object doubles.How does the change in the magnitude of the objects
IgorC [24]

Answer:

The change in kinetic energy is twice the change in momentum

Explanation:

The momentum of an object is given by:

where

m is the mass of the object

v is its velocity

While the kinetic energy is given by

We want to check how these two quantities change when the speed of the object doubles, therefore when the new velocity is

For the momentum, we have

So, the momentum doubles.

For the kinetic energy, we have

So, the kinetic energy quadruples.

Therefore, the change in kinetic energy is twice the change in momentum.
