If a straight-chain hydrocarbon is a gas at room temperature, how many carbon atoms will it have?

Chemistry

The fewer the carbon atoms, the closer it is  to being a gas. The only one you have to check out is A which is hexane. You know that gasoline at the pumps has 8 carbons and its a liquid. So B and C are both not gases  because they are above 8.

C6 (hexane) is a liquid at room temperature not a gas.

The answer is D. If there is a gas present, it must be C3

Based on the balanced chemical equation for the preparation of malachite, what is the composition of the bubbles formed when sod
spin [16.1K]

Answer:

Carbon Dioxide = CO2

Explanation:

The synthesis of Malachite is seen in the chemical formula:

CuSO 4 . 5H2O(aq) + 2NaCO3(aq) --> CuCO 3 Cu(OH) 2 (s) + 2Na 2 SO 4 (aq) + CO 2 (g) + 9H 2 O(l)

The bubbles mentioned in the question hints that our interest is the compounds in their gseous phase  (g).

Upon examining the chemical equation, only CO2 is in the gaseous state and hence the only one that can be formed as bubbles,

When a solid is heated up what occurs? A. The molecules move faster and become more dense B. The molecules move faster and becom
Xelga [282]

Answer: B. The molecules move faster and become less dense

Explanation:

Liquid is the state of matter in which particles are less tightly bound as compared to solids as they have weak inter molecular forces as compared to solids.

Thus when a solid is heated, the molecules start moving in random motion due to an increase in the kinetic energy. The molecules move apart as the forces will be weak and thus less molecules will be present per unit volume. Thus it will become less dense.

An industrial process of producing ammonia gas runs with a 74.0% yield. How many kilograms of ammonia gas will be produced in th
Tcecarenko [31]

Answer:

37.1 kilograms of ammonia gas will be produced in this process

Explanation:

The percentage yield of the reaction is given by:

(Yield)\%=\frac{\text{Experimental yield}}{\text{Theoretical yield}}\times 100

According to question

The percentage yield of the given industrial process = 74.0%

The given theoretical yield of ammonia gas = 50.1 kg

The experimental yield of ammonia gas = x

The percentage yield of the reaction is calculated a:

74.0\%=\frac{x}{50.1 kg}\times 100

Solving for x, we get:

x = 37.074 kg\approx 37.1 kg

37.1 kilograms of ammonia gas will be produced in this process
