A ball is dropped from a window and takes two seconds to reach the ground .it starts from rest and reaches a final speed of 20m/
Akimi4 [234]
The ball can't reach the speed of 20 m/s in two seconds, unless you THROW it down from the window with a little bit of initial speed. If you just drop it, then the highest speed it can have after two seconds is 19.6 m/s .

If an object starts from rest and its speed after 2 seconds is 20 m/s, then its acceleration is 20/2 = 10 m/s^2 .

(Gravity on Earth is only 9.8 m/s^2.)

A construction crane's cable lifts a 49.5-kg box upward with an acceleration of 1.30 m/s2. Find the tension in the rope.
Basile [38]

Verrrrry interesting question !

Force= (mass) x (acceleration)

               (49.5kg) x (1.3 m/s²) =

        Net force on the box is 64.25 newtons upward.

That's the net force. It's the combination of the tension in the rope
pulling the box up, and the force of gravity pulling the box down.

Force of gravity = "weight" = (mass) x (gravity) =

                                                     (49.5) x (9.8) = 485.1 newtons downward

The tension in the rope must be enough to balance the downward force
of gravity PLUS provide another 64.25 newtons upward.

       Tension = (485.1) + (64.25) = 549.35 newtons
