Answer:

Explanation:

The osmotic gradient in the kidney typically in the medulla is a process that generates urine that is 5 times more concentrated so as to reduce the loss of water from the body.

The countercurrent multiplication is a process that uses energy to produce the osmotic gradient in the kidney, this process facilitates the reabsorption of water from the tubular fluid. This mechanism moves the sodium chloride from the tubular fluid to the interstitial space of the kidneys. The osmotic gradient can be developed in two ways:

1. The single effect: This involves the transport of sodium chloride from the tubular fluid and moved to the ascending limb then finally to the interstitial fluid. As a result of this, the water moves passively down to the concentration gradient out of the tubular fluid than to the descending limb of the interstitial space, until the equilibrium is achieved.

2. Fluid flow method: The tubular fluid enters into the descending limb. This pushes the fluid into high osmolarity typically down the tube. This way the osmotic gradient develops.

The noninvasive treatment to break up kidney stones, called _____________ involves shock waves.
Nadya [2.5K]

Answer: lithotripsy

Explanation:

Kidney stones can be define as one of the urogenital disorders. There is no reason for the formation of kidney stones. Typically the adults which are over the age of 40 and males are more susceptible to the develop kidney stones.

The lithotripsy is a non-invasive technique which utilizes the shock waves so as to break the stones present in the kidneys into small pieces so that they can be easily pass through the body by urine.

Explain the following term. Bulk flow. And. facilitated diffusion
Sunny_sXe [5.5K]

Answer:

Bulk flow:

In cell biology, bulk flow is the process by which proteins with a sorting signal travel to and from different cellular compartments.

Facilitated diffusion:

Facilitated diffusion (also known as facilitated transport or passive-mediated transport) is the process of spontaneous passive transport (as opposed to active transport) of molecules or ions across a biological membrane via specific transmembrane integral proteins.

When an enzyme catalyzes a reaction:
jeyben [28]

Answer: Option A. "Substrate(s) bind in the active site.

Explanation:

Enzymes can be defined as biological catalysts, that enhances the rate of chemical or biochemical reaction.

Substrate binds to the enzyme on its active site and converts the substrate into a specific product.

Enzymes do not take part in the reaction but it lowers down its activation energy that accelerates the rate of reaction.

Thus, the correct answer is option A.
